Dedicated grassroots officials

According to Mr. Vo Van Dung, head of Tra Cu hamlet, Thuan Nghia Hoa commune, Thanh Hoa district, Long An province, building new rural areas is a long process that requires patience and close contact with the people. Therefore, wherever there are difficulties in the hamlet, Mr. Dung is always there. He accompanies the people in resolving problems. If the people don't understand something, he goes to each house to explain; if the people are hesitant to contribute, he takes the lead in mobilizing them.

Head of Tra Cu hamlet, Thuan Nghia Hoa commune, Thanh Hoa district (far left) - Vo Van Dung is close to the people, listening to their legitimate concerns and aspirations.

Mr. Dung was born in 1965 into a family with a revolutionary tradition . His father was a martyr, his mother was a war invalid, and both his paternal and maternal grandmothers were Heroic Vietnamese Mothers. These examples became a guiding light, nurturing in him a sense of responsibility, unwavering determination, and a will to strive for the collective good.

Having served as village head for nearly 20 years, his dedicated image has become familiar to the people. During the process of building new rural areas , Mr. Dung paid particular attention to transportation infrastructure. "I think that if we want to improve the quality of life for the people, first and foremost, the roads must be complete, bright, green, clean, and beautiful," Mr. Dung shared.

In 2024, he mobilized residents and philanthropists to contribute to the installation of 68 solar-powered streetlights along the roads, totaling over 350 million VND. In 2024 and 2025, he also mobilized resources to repair and upgrade dilapidated road sections and bridge ramps with a total cost of nearly 70 million VND, of which residents contributed over 20 million VND.

Beyond infrastructure development, he also focused on promoting production. Thanks to his efforts, the villagers boldly adopted high technology in cultivating 220 hectares of glutinous rice. Many households also switched to other crops in line with the agricultural sector's guidelines, cultivating over 56 hectares of yellow apricot blossoms, lemons, pineapples, jackfruit, etc., contributing to increased income and stable livelihoods for the people.

Each year, he coordinates the distribution of over 300 gifts to support the poor and near-poor. From 2024 to the present, the hamlet has also organized the rotational distribution of 5 gifts each month to 11 vulnerable groups. In addition, all 78 policy beneficiary households in the area receive proper and sufficient care according to regulations, especially during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year).

For these contributions, he received 3 commendations, more than 30 certificates of merit from the commune and district levels, and is being recommended to receive a commendation from the Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding performance in fulfilling his duties for three consecutive years.
