(TNO) Currently, about 7% of couples have problems with their reproductive system, many children have refractive errors..., but these people have not been covered by Health Insurance (HI) for a long time.

This afternoon, September 19, the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation had a meeting to listen to comments on the draft law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance.
Some new opinions in this round of feedback are that health insurance should pay for infertility treatment; refractive errors in children...
Doctor Hoang Thi Diem Tuyet, Deputy Director of Tu Du Hospital, said that it is necessary to add to the Health Insurance Law that Health Insurance covers patients with infertility treatment.
According to Dr. Hoang Thi Diem Tuyet, the group of infertile and sterile patients accounts for 7% of the population, while treatment is very expensive. Dr. Diem Tuyet also suggested that health insurance should pay for the treatment of refractive errors (nearsightedness, astigmatism, farsightedness, etc. - PV) for children.
Sharing the same opinion, Dr. Phan Van Nghiem, Deputy Director of Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, also said that it is necessary to include in the Health Insurance Law payment for children to treat refractive errors, because currently the rate of children with refractive errors is very high.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Deputy Director of Cho Ray Hospital, commented: "The Law on Health Insurance needs to be amended and supplemented with health insurance to fully pay for patients undergoing stent surgery to treat cardiovascular diseases. Because for a long time, for patients who need to have 2-3 stents placed in the same surgery, health insurance only pays for 1 stent."
According to Mr. Khoi, the cost of each Stent is very expensive (several tens of millions per Stent branch - PV), which causes disadvantages for patients.
Dr. Nguyen Dinh Phu, Deputy Director of People's Hospital 115, said that another problem in health insurance payment that needs to be revised is that "The hospital performed surgery to replace two hip joints for the patient, but health insurance only paid the hospital for one replacement."
Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Minh Xuan, Vice Principal of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, Ho Chi Minh City, commented: "It is necessary to include in the law a ban on discrimination against health insurance patients, because this is a reality that still occurs, causing frustration for patients."
Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Minh Xuan believes that how to make people voluntarily participate in health insurance and make them happy when participating, that is what is necessary.
Mr. Huynh Thanh Lap, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation, commented that in this round of giving opinions, the delegates and representatives of hospitals gave very practical comments.
“This is an important law, related to patients and social security policies. Hopefully, the contributions this time will help the Health Insurance Law be applied in the long term, closely related to life, helping more and more people participate in Health Insurance...”, said Mr. Huynh Thanh Lap.
