146 households with 552 people in Dai Lang village are using water mainly from streams or wells. In the dry season, the water is low, making people's daily activities difficult. In the rainy season, the stream water rises, causing many water pipes to break, disrupting the water supply for use.
Therefore, households have to look for water sources from places that are not quality-tested for daily use. Feedback from households shows that the water is dirty, has sediment, and has to go through many layers of filters but still does not ensure quality. Some families have had to invest in water purifiers, but the cost and the need to constantly replace the filter cartridges are still big challenges.
Mr. Vu Duc Trong (Dai Lang village) said: People mainly use water from streams, waiting for nature, not being proactive in their lives. Like my family, the water pipe from the stream is about 300m long and is often damaged, especially in the rainy season, the investment is very costly. We also store water in stainless steel tanks, but when the hot weather lasts for a long time, we still encounter serious water shortages. The water used every day is very turbid, we are worried about the quality of the water source. People want to have clean water soon to stabilize their lives and ensure their health.
According to Vice Chairman of Van Yen Commune People's Committee Chu Van Bac, providing clean water to people in Dai Lang village is an urgent issue, however, currently the clean water supply system of Van Don Water Enterprise in Van Yen commune only reaches Dai Mo area, not Dai Lang village. In the immediate future, to ensure water source for people's daily life, the Commune People's Committee will propagate and mobilize people to use well water and self-filtering tanks to ensure hygienic water. In the long term, the locality requests that competent authorities soon intervene and invest in a clean water supply system for people in Dai Lang village.
In fact, there are many reasons for this situation. One of them is that the population density is scattered and not concentrated, leading to high investment costs for the water supply network. People use many different water sources, making the need for clean water less than in urban areas. However, at present, solutions such as pumping water from streams, using well water, or filtering water with many layers are only temporary measures to solve the problem. In the long term, the People's Committee of Van Don district needs to speed up the progress of clean water coverage to promptly meet the daily needs of the people.
According to the People's Committee of Van Don district, the locality is implementing the construction of the Dong Dong Reservoir project and expanding the clean water supply system in the district, including Van Yen commune. The People's Committee of the district directed units and enterprises to survey and expand the clean water supply in the district, and deploy clean water supply to Dai Lang village, Van Yen commune.
