Việt NamViệt Nam06/11/2024

Currently, Long An International Port is working with a number of international shipping lines to discuss, learn about, and implement a plan to transport goods internationally in 2025.

Save 10-30% on shipping costs for businesses in the Mekong Delta

The above information was shared by Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Vy, Deputy General Director of Long An International Port Management and Operation Joint Stock Company at a recent on-site tour of the ecosystem of Long An International Port, part of the 2nd Vietnam Logistics Conference - 2024 organized by Investment Newspaper, under the auspices of the Ministry of Planning and Investment with the theme "Transformation for breakthrough".

At the meeting, a representative of Long An IDICO Construction Joint Stock Company said that the Company currently has an industrial park (IP) in Long An and has a need for transportation services. They want to learn about the cost of logistics services at Long An International Port. Is it more competitive than other ports in the Southern region?

Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Vy, Deputy General Director of Long An International Port Management and Operation Joint Stock Company, shared at the recent on-site tour of the ecosystem of Long An International Port as part of the 2nd Vietnam Logistics Conference - 2024 organized by Investment Newspaper.

Responding to this issue, Ms. Vy said that Long An International Port has competitive advantages and is currently receiving great attention from the Long An provincial government. Because Long An International Port was established with the goal of connecting domestic and international trade with the Mekong Delta region in general and Long An province in particular.

Specifically, CLA connects goods and warehouses with provinces in the Mekong Delta region with Ho Chi Minh City, the Southeast region with the Cambodian market. “As we know, the Mekong Delta is a very large market for business as well as a hub for agricultural exports, the largest center for seafood, fruits, etc. However, the Mekong Delta is facing a major bottleneck, which is the logistics needs of businesses in exporting goods,” said Ms. Vy.

According to Ms. Vy, currently, about 70-75% of goods in the Mekong Delta region must be imported and exported by businesses, transported by road or through ports in Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

This is wasteful, as the transportation costs of businesses often account for 30-40% depending on the geographical location, region and product. Not only is the transportation cost expensive, but the quality of the goods will also be affected, thereby reducing the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods when exporting.

With the goal of serving trade for the provinces in the Mekong Delta region as well as grasping the trends of businesses and current market needs, Long An International Port has been developing into a chain of logistics services (seaports, warehouses, multimodal transport, including road and river transport...) as well as providing air freight...

In response to Southlog Company’s question, Ms. Vy also said that currently, goods going through Long An International Port do not have to pay infrastructure fees, so goods of enterprises in the Mekong Delta region going through the Port will save 10-30% of transportation costs. Because the Port has a complete solution for customers, competitive services and costs.

Ready for international container exploitation

Regarding the business plan and container exploitation, Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Vy said that Long An International Port is currently exploiting domestic containers from the North, Central and South regions and vice versa.

As for international shipping, according to the plan in 2025, Long An International Port will deploy. Currently, the Port is ready to exploit international container cargo. According to Ms. Vy, because international cargo will have stricter control requirements than domestic cargo, Long An International Port is in the preparation stage to deploy in 2025.

Mr. Vo Quoc Huy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Long An International Port Joint Stock Company, shared with businesses at the recent on-site tour of the ecosystem of Long An International Port as part of the 2nd Vietnam Logistics Conference - 2024 organized by Investment Newspaper.

Regarding the plan to work with international shipping lines, Ms. Vy said that the Port is currently working with a number of international shipping lines to discuss, learn about, and implement a plan to transport flowers in the near future. “Because when opening a new route, shipping lines must carefully calculate and survey the source of goods and potential customers before deciding. Long An International Port is also making efforts to invest step by step to provide customers with the best solutions,” Ms. Vy added.

Currently, Long An province considers Long An International Port as a key project of the province, so it will also facilitate the circulation of goods through the port. According to the plan in the coming time, Long An province also has a policy to attract goods and containers from domestic and foreign shipping lines through Long An International Port, in order to bring efficiency to customers as well as increase the economy of the province.

Mr. Vo Quoc Huy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Long An International Port Joint Stock Company, said that because of his love for his homeland, Dong Tam Group built Long An International Port in Can Giuot District to connect the traffic between the Mekong Delta provinces and the Mekong Delta with Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa. “Because in reality, there is currently no large-scale seaport in the Mekong Delta region, Dong Tam decided to invest in Long An International Port to help businesses quickly transport goods to domestic and foreign consumers,” said Mr. Huy.

The goal of Long An International Port is to become a logistics ecosystem to meet the needs of customers. This has been demonstrated in the past, Long An International Port has provided services for businesses exporting and importing bulk cargo through the Port including: customs procedures, transportation and delivery from the port warehouse to agents...
