Built and put into operation since the 1990s, Quang Tri town market used to be a bustling trading place for people in the southern area of Quang Tri. Currently, the market has about 1,000 traders specializing in a variety of products from household goods, clothing to food.

At the same time, it pays attention to investing in maintenance and equipping fire prevention and fighting equipment; maintains the organization of safety inspections of fire prevention and fighting equipment such as fire alarms, fire extinguishers, and machinery at the facility twice a week...
According to the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of the Provincial Police, the province currently has about 80 large and small traditional markets. Most of these markets have been built for many years, so in the hot season, the risk of fire and explosion is always very high. Through the inspection process, the authorities found that in some markets, the equipment for fire prevention and rescue is not adequate; the arrangement of goods is still not neat.
In addition, the carelessness in using fire, burning incense, votive paper, and smoking by some residents and traders is also a cause of fires and explosions in markets. Therefore, residents, businesses, market management boards, and traders need to be especially vigilant, raise awareness and responsibility in fire prevention and fighting, especially in the safe use of electricity.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Duong, Deputy Head of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department - Provincial Police said: "We recommend that authorities at all levels pay attention to and supplement necessary fire prevention and fighting means and equipment to be ready to handle when bad situations occur. For the fire prevention and fighting forces at the grassroots level, the Market Management Boards need to regularly inspect, grasp the procedures and skillfully use fire prevention and fighting means; remind traders to arrange goods neatly to have clear walkways.
For people and businesses at the market, it is necessary to limit the burning of incense and votive paper to ensure the safety of their own property and those around them. The police force will also increase inspections, reminders and strictly handle violations of fire safety regulations. In addition, the unit has directed officers and soldiers to enhance their sense of responsibility, vigilance, and 24/7 duty, ensuring adequate equipment and means to be ready to effectively respond to all fire and explosion incidents and search and rescue.
