With the potential and advantages for developing the marine economy , in recent years, Quang Tri province has focused investment resources to synchronously develop fisheries infrastructure, aiming for a modern, sustainable, and highly competitive fisheries industry.
In particular, the Government and central ministries and branches have allocated important resources to the province from the compensation fund of Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation after the marine environmental incident.
The use of this capital is not only aimed at supporting localities in overcoming the consequences of marine environmental incidents, but also an opportunity to invest in strategic and sustainable fisheries development projects, contributing to stabilizing the lives and increasing incomes for the fishing community, while promoting the socio-economic growth of the province.

Based on the instructions of the Government Office and the Ministry of Finance, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment to work specifically with relevant units and localities to prepare a report proposing investment policies for the aquaculture development project.
Accordingly, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has completed the report proposing investment policies for projects using Formosa's funding, including 3 sub-projects with a total estimated investment of 750 billion VND, including: Wastewater treatment system and supporting infrastructure for fishing ports combined with anchorage areas of Nam Cua Viet, Bac Cua Viet, Cua Tung (150 billion VND); Upgrading fishing ports combined with anchorage areas for storm shelters on Con Co island (450 billion VND); Concentrated seafood processing area of Dong Gio Linh Industrial Cluster (150 billion VND).
Through field inspections of the projects, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to urgently complete the report with the most feasible capital allocation proposal to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for appraisal and send to relevant ministries and branches in the coming time. At the same time, he emphasized that this is an extremely important task, with key factors to modernize fishing logistics, ensure criteria for protecting the marine environment, fire prevention and fighting, and ensure safety for people and property according to regulations.
Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam noted to relevant units that the actual investment must be specified in the report and from the urgent needs of the wastewater treatment system, fire prevention and fighting, and food safety and hygiene treatment areas during the classification of caught aquatic products. Priority should be given to project investment implementation, especially for the 3 storm shelter anchorage areas associated with the investment phase plan.
