| Song Trau Lake (Cong Hai commune) capacity reaches 98.6%, currently 2 gates open, spillway 141.08m3 /s. |
At Song Cai Lake, the overflow flow increased from 466m³/s to 801.84m³/s, an increase of nearly 336m³/s, due to the lake's continued high water level. This is a large discharge level, potentially increasing the risk of flooding in riverside areas. Song Sat Lake also increased its discharge from 102.2m³/s to 197.88m³/s, nearly double that of the morning. At Tra Co Lake, the discharge flow increased from 22.96m³/s to 175.08m³/s, an increase of more than 152m³/s, showing an unusually large amount of water flowing into the lake. At the same time, many other lakes also increased their discharge sharply, including: Phuoc Trung from 0.95m³/s to 10.61m³/s; Buffalo River from 51.76m³/s to 141.08m³/s; Freshwater from 9.29m³/s to 45.11m³/s; Cho Mo from 14.04m³/s to 163.4m³/s, an increase of more than 11 times; Than River from 59.75m³/s to 95.55m³/s.
The company said that due to the continued heavy rainfall in the past hours, many reservoirs reached 95-110% of their design capacity, forcing them to open additional sluice gates to ensure the safety of the project. The increased discharge could cause rapid flooding in low-lying areas, riverside areas and areas that were already flooded.
The company recommends that people limit movement through culverts, streams, and rivers; closely monitor rain and flood warning information; proactively move assets away from areas at risk of deep flooding and fast-flowing water. Downstream localities need to prepare response plans and proactively evacuate when required.
