Cao Bang Provincial Department of Health said that Hoa An District Medical Center received emergency treatment for many students from Nuoc Hai Primary School on the afternoon of April 23, in a state of abdominal pain, nausea, and hives.

Specifically, around the beginning of the afternoon class on April 23, some students had symptoms of stomachache, nausea and hives on their bodies.

Immediately afterwards, the school's Board of Directors and teachers took the children to Hoa An District Medical Center.

Specialist Doctor I Doan Thi Nga, Department of Emergency - Intensive Care and Anti-Poisoning - Artificial Kidney, Hoa An District Medical Center said that the unit received the first case at around 1:30 p.m. on April 23, after that many students studying at the school were continuously brought here.

The children had similar clinical symptoms, including abdominal pain, nausea, and hives on their bodies. By 2:30 p.m. the same day, 27 children had been hospitalized.

After the incident, the Department of Health directed the Provincial Center for Disease Control and the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene to conduct an epidemiological investigation, collect water and food samples; and send doctors from the Pediatrics Department of Cao Bang Provincial General Hospital to support the Hoa An District Medical Center.

Preliminary investigation results show that the water source used at Nuoc Hai Primary School is tap water shared throughout the area. Students use bottled drinking water; food in the cafeteria has a clear origin, and the kitchen area is not found to be unsanitary.

After working with the Hoa An District Medical Center and related parties, the Department of Health leaders determined that there was not enough basis to determine that these cases were hospitalized due to food poisoning.

The causes are continuing to be investigated and clarified; at the same time, in-depth tests are being performed./.
