At more than 11am on October 27, the authorities of District 12 (HCMC) were still investigating the incident where a royal poinciana tree in Nguyen Thi Dinh Primary School (Tan Thoi Nhat Ward, District 12) was uprooted and fell on a car parked on the street, next to the school.
The car was damaged by being hit by an uprooted royal poinciana tree.
According to initial information, at about 9:30 a.m. the same day, people living near Nguyen Thi Dinh Primary School heard a loud noise.
Upon checking, they discovered an ancient royal poinciana tree in the school had been uprooted, crushing a 4-seater car with a Quang Binh license plate parked on the road.
At the scene, the top branches of the royal poinciana tree pressed against the back of the 4-seat car, causing the windshield to shatter and cause severe damage.
The base of the royal poinciana tree shows signs of rot.
According to locals, the royal poinciana tree's roots showed signs of rotting and had had its top cut off before.
Currently, District 12 authorities are sawing down the royal poinciana tree and moving the car elsewhere. At the same time, they are investigating the cause of the incident.
