Garnacho's portrait at Old Trafford was vandalised. |
Garnacho's decision to join Chelsea has sparked outrage among Manchester United fans, with large pictures of Garnacho at Old Trafford being defaced or vandalised, with images circulating showing obvious paint marks and damage.
The vandalism is the latest manifestation of discontent among Manchester United fans, as Garnacho appears to be ending his relationship with the club. Earlier this week, Garnacho sent shockwaves through Manchester United by sending a clear message: either let him join Chelsea this summer, or accept being benched for the next 6-12 months.
The Argentine winger was among the “group of five” left out of manager Ruben Amorim’s plans earlier in the summer, along with Jadon Sancho, Antony, Marcus Rashford and Tyrell Malacia. The decision was made after Garnacho expressed his displeasure at starting on the bench in the Europa League final.
According to the Daily Mail, Garnacho has identified Chelsea as his next destination, while the Blues have also shown special interest and are not concerned about his character after carefully studying him. Initially, MU valued the player at 70 million pounds, but have now reduced it to 50 million to speed up the farewell.
However, Garnacho is only valued at £30 million by Chelsea. If the transfer fails, Garnacho will accept being on the bench next season but still receive his full salary.
