Speaking to the Financial Times , Mr Huang – who heads the world’s first company to reach a $5 trillion market capitalisation – said Beijing’s energy subsidies are fuelling the build-out of advanced semiconductors, the foundation for AI technology development.
“China will win the AI race,” he said at an event in London on November 5. “I have long said that China is only nanoseconds behind the US in AI. It is important for the US to move forward and win the support of global developers,” he added in a statement later posted on X.

After hitting a $5 trillion market cap last week, California-based Nvidia's market value has now dropped to about $4.7 trillion.
Nvidia's high-end graphics processors - which are used to train and run generative AI systems - are currently banned from sale in China due to a US government ban related to national security concerns.
Earlier this week, the White House said it was not considering allowing Nvidia to sell its advanced Blackwell chips to the Chinese market, citing concerns about giving Beijing a military advantage.
Mr. Huang has repeatedly called on the United States to ease chip export restrictions, warning that the policy could be counterproductive by pushing China to develop its own technology.
According to the Financial Times , the famous businessman also criticized new AI regulations in the US, saying they are holding back development, in contrast to China - where the government strongly supports and even subsidizes electricity to promote this technology.
He believes Western countries, including the US and UK, are being held back by “skepticism” about AI.
