When they learned that at Cao Ba Quat Secondary School (Nam Nha Trang Ward) there was a group of doctors from Ho Chi Minh City organizing medical examinations and giving free medicine to people in flooded areas on the afternoon of November 22, many people came to see the doctor. Here, the elderly and children were guided by doctors, nurses and medical volunteers of the group to complete procedures, measure blood pressure and receive medicine. On the faces still marked with anxiety after the recent flood, smiles gradually returned when they received care and sharing. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (Nam Nha Trang Ward) said: "My house was heavily flooded, luckily the local authorities promptly evacuated me to a safe shelter. However, when I left, I did not have time to bring my blood pressure medicine, so today I came to see the doctor to check my health again." Knowing that there was a group of doctors from Ho Chi Minh City coming to see the doctor at Da Trang village, Nam Khanh Vinh commune, Ms. Cao Thi Hong asked her children and grandchildren to take her there for a check-up. Receiving the medicine bag from the doctor, Mrs. Hong was moved: “It rained heavily, my house was leaking and everything was wet, the medicine the health station gave me a few days ago was also wet. Now that the doctor has come to my house to examine me and give me medicine, I am very happy.”

On November 24, at Dien Son Medical Station (Dien Dien Commune) and Dien An (Dien Khanh Commune), more than 30 young doctors from Khanh Hoa General Hospital were divided into 2 teams, organizing medical examinations for nearly 400 people in the 2 above localities. Under the direction of specialist doctor II Le Vu Chuong - Director of Khanh Hoa General Hospital, the organization and classification of medical examinations for people were timely. In addition to medical examinations, people were advised and instructed on how to prevent the risk of accidents and common diseases after floods...

On the move when called

Specialist Doctor I Pham Minh Cong - Head of Group 1, Ho Chi Minh City Young Physicians Association, examined at Cao Ba Quat Secondary School shared: "When we received the order, we only had 2 hours to prepare. Although the time was urgent, everyone had the same thought of having to reach the people as soon as possible. It was not only a professional responsibility but also a sense of patriotism". That volunteer spirit brought 50 highly specialized young doctors from leading hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City to travel a long distance to Khanh Hoa, bringing 1,000 medicine kits to coordinate with the local health sector to organize mobile examination points, examining nearly 1,000 people in heavily flooded areas such as: Dien Khanh, Khanh Vinh, Nha Trang, Ninh Hoa. Here, people are examined and screened for diseases of the skin, cardiovascular system, blood pressure, respiratory system, infection, trauma, pediatrics, etc. The team of doctors also provides professional support to a number of hospitals in Khanh Hoa province in the departments of intensive care, anesthesia, internal medicine, orthopedics, and emergency.
