Turn to bodybuilding to improve health
Every day, at 4am, Hoan rushes to the gym to work out for over an hour to get to work at 6:30am. In the afternoon, this young man returns to the gym. Despite the hardship, Hoan still does his main job well and has achievements in bodybuilding.
Hoan said he started working out in 2014: “At that time, I was very sick and often got sick, so I started working out to improve my health. I searched for knowledge on the internet, learned from people in the gym, and then followed suit. Seeing many guys who had been working out for a long time and had strong muscles gave me more motivation to work out.”
Hoan is a laboratory technician.
At first, Hoan often suffered injuries, especially in his wrists due to incorrect training techniques. The peak was in 2016, when Hoan suffered a shoulder injury due to training with too heavy weights. That time, Hoan had to stop going to the gym for 4 months to recover. “After the injuries, I will be more careful during training. That is also the process of perfecting my technique,” Hoan shared.
Before starting bodybuilding, Hoan weighed only 50 kg, after 3 years he gained 67 kg. “At that time, I still ate my mother’s cooking,” Hoan shared. It was not until 2019 that Hoan thoroughly learned about the diet of a professional athlete.
No gym time yet
Every day, Hoan divides his food into 5 meals. During the competition period, Hoan ate up to 2 kg of chicken breast every day. Currently, Hoan has gained 85 kg, with a balanced body and a lot of muscle.
In 2019, Hoan graduated from the Medical Laboratory Technology Department of Da Nang University of Medical Technology. After that, Hoan went to Vung Tau City (Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province) and worked at a private clinic. In 2020, he started working at the Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute.
Win a medal in your first competition
In 2022, Hoan participated in the Men's and Women's Beach Bodybuilding Competition in Binh Thuan Province. This was the first time Hoan competed in a bodybuilding competition and chose 2 categories: bodybuilding and men's physique. In the end, Hoan won a silver medal in the bodybuilding category and 4th place in men's physique.
Hoan had to prepare for high-intensity training and a strict diet 3 months before the tournament. “I went to practice at 4am, and went to work at the hospital at 6am. After work, I practiced for about 3 more hours, then went home to eat and prepare chicken breast for the next day,” Hoan shared. Hoan lost more than 10kg and reached a weight of 70kg when competing.
The closer the competition date gets, the more the strict diet makes Hoan tired and easily loses focus. During this time, Hoan tries to balance it so as not to affect his work at the Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute. Hoan said he will arrange time to participate in a bodybuilding competition next year.
Won a medal in his first bodybuilding competition
“Working in the medical and fitness industries are both my great passions. So, despite the difficulties, I still feel happy because I am doing what I love,” Hoan shared.
Mr. Nguyen Nhu Su, who won a gold medal in the over 1.75m category at the WFF Asia Pacific held in Ho Chi Minh City in 2022 and many medals at bodybuilding competitions, commented on Hoan: “Hoan is a very calm, hardworking and passionate young man with a passion for bodybuilding. Supporting Hoan in his training, I can feel his energy and determination. I believe Hoan will win gold medals in future tournaments.”
