Little guy spends $80,000 on leg lengthening surgery

Turkey Not confident with his height of 1.65 m, Dynzell Sigers, 27 years old, decided to spend 80,000 USD to have surgery to lengthen his legs by 17 cm.

The young man came to this decision after many women criticized his short stature. "I was always a shy, reserved child, afraid to be myself, afraid of being judged or not accepted," he said, adding that girls rejected him for being "too short" even though they still found him attractive.

Leg lengthening surgery is a treatment that increases the height of a patient's arm or leg bones, while also lengthening the surrounding muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

Doctors will cut the bone into two segments and attach a bone expander between the two segments, including an external fixator or an internal medical steel bar, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The device is periodically adjusted by the doctor, causing the two segments to gradually widen. The two ends of the leg bone gradually separate, stimulating new bone to grow and fill the two gaps created. This process usually takes about two months.

Patients who undergo leg lengthening surgery will not be able to walk immediately and will need physical therapy. It usually takes a year for them to fully recover.

Last December, Sigers went to Live Life Taller, a hospital and rehabilitation center in Istanbul, Türkiye, for leg-lengthening surgery. He said doctors could only give him 7.5 to 10 centimeters of length. He underwent two surgeries, each costing $40,000, and had to learn to walk again.

As a result, Sigers is now 6 feet 11 inches tall, an increase of 6 inches (17 centimeters). He has documented his recovery and posted it on TikTok. In some videos , he is seen undergoing intense physical therapy, rebuilding his leg muscles and improving his mobility. He said the pain is "quite severe but bearable."

"All my life, I struggled with being considered a small person. Leg lengthening gave me the opportunity to change my life, my outlook on life in general. I have no regrets and decided to share my journey with the world , to let men in the same situation know that they have other options," he shared.
