On July 22, the National Children's Hospital announced that HNM (10 years old, Hanoi) - one of the survivors of the tourist boat capsizing in Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh - is being cared for and treated at the hospital.
Previously, after being discovered and rescued from the capsized boat, the child was taken to Bai Chay Hospital in a state of acute respiratory failure, where wounds were treated, respiratory support was provided, antibiotics were administered, fluids were given, and the child's psychological state was stabilized. On the evening of July 20th, the child was transferred to the National Children's Hospital.

At the Emergency and Toxicology Department, the child was admitted in a conscious state, with numerous abrasions on the body, especially on the head. After examination and paraclinical tests, the child was diagnosed with pneumonia following drowning.
According to the leaders of the National Children's Hospital, the boy's health is currently stable and he has no fever. In addition to physical treatment, the child is also receiving psychological support from the medical team in the Adolescent Health Department through intermediate therapy activities.
"This therapy aims to gradually introduce children to distressing family information in a safe environment, minimizing psychological trauma, with emotional support from family members and professionals," the treating physician said.
Earlier, on the evening of July 19th, authorities found 10-year-old HNM miraculously alive inside the passenger compartment of a capsized cruise ship.
When rescued from the overturned ship's compartment, the baby was cold, hypothermic, and terrified.
Recalling the incident, M. was still terrified, saying that she was on vacation with her family when it happened.
While the boat was in Ha Long Bay, it capsized. When the boat overturned, M. was fortunate enough to get into a compartment with air, so he managed to stay calm and wait until rescue forces spotted him and pulled him out.
At 12:55 PM on July 19th, the Green Bay 58 boat, license plate QN-7105, was carrying tourists on Route 2 (Sung Sot Cave - Ti Top Island) in Ha Long Bay. The boat was carrying 48 tourists and 5 crew members. At 1:30 PM the same day, the boat encountered a sudden storm and lost GPS signal at 2:05 PM.
