CELEBRATING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF LAM DONG LIBERATION (April 3, 1975 - April 3, 2025): Confidently entering a new era

50 years after liberation, Lam Dong has gradually transformed itself to develop strongly. And now, the land of the Southern Central Highlands is facing great opportunities to join the whole country in a new and promising development path.

• MANY ROOMS AND POTENTIAL

Lam Dong is located in the Southern Central Highlands region with an altitude difference of 300 - 1,500 m above sea level, average temperature from 18 - 25oC, this is a unique advantage of Lam Dong that no other province in the South has.

Lam Dong's transportation system has national and provincial highways connecting with the Central Highlands, Southeast and South Central Coast provinces; and Lien Khuong International Airport (the only international airport in the Central Highlands), which are great advantages. In particular, on March 31, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee approved the Bao Loc - Lien Khuong Expressway Construction Investment Project, Phase 1, marking an important step forward in the development of the province's transportation infrastructure. Comrade Tran Hong Thai - Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee affirmed: "With geographical advantages and gradually improving transportation infrastructure, Lam Dong can become and will become a traffic artery for the entire Central Highlands region with other economic regions as well as with many countries in the world".

Fertile land and temperate climate are the strengths for Lam Dong to develop agriculture , especially high-tech agriculture (HTA). Lam Dong is considered the leading locality in developing HTA in the country with annual revenue per hectare of vegetable production of about 2 billion VND, flower production of about 3 - 5 billion VND; the proportion of HTA production and smart agriculture accounts for 45% of the total production value of the crop production sector... This is a sustainable direction, with its own brand and full of pride for Lam Dong. In parallel, the agricultural and food processing industry is also a great advantage that the province is focusing on exploiting and developing.

The unique characteristics of landscape and climate have helped Lam Dong in general and Da Lat City in particular have great potential for tourism development. Therefore, right from the days of starting to build a new life after the liberation, Lam Dong province identified this as a strategic strength, a spearhead economic sector. 50 years after the liberation and nearly 40 years of implementing the country's renovation, with effective development strategies, Da Lat - Lam Dong tourism has gradually affirmed its position on the domestic and international tourism map. At the end of 2024, Lam Dong welcomed the 10 millionth tourist, which is a clear proof of that. Da Lat City alone continues to affirm itself as one of the 5 impressive Festival cities of Asia, a Creative City in the field of Music by UNESCO. And in 2025, Da Lat continues to be honored with the Asian Flower Festival and Ecotourism Award; Asia Festival Awards 2025 - Asian Flower and Garden Festival 2025 category; Asia Summit Awards - Most Eco-Friendly Festival category...

Lam Dong has advantages in developing processing industry, energy, mining and mineral processing. In recent years, the province has expanded projects and industrial sectors in line with development goals, ensuring environmental protection requirements and generating revenue. Rich, diverse culture, imbued with the identity of 47 ethnic groups with masterpieces and heritages such as gong culture, Nguyen Dynasty woodblocks; Lang Biang World Biosphere Reserve...; abundant human resources with a population of about 1.3 million people; a large-scale education and training system, human resource development with 3 universities, 6 colleges, 5 vocational secondary schools and more than 60 vocational training facilities and 3 research institutes... are "valuable assets" for Lam Dong to develop and take off.

• DETERMINED TO ACCELERATE AND BREAKTHROUGH

Comrade Nguyen Thai Hoc - Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee affirmed: "In 2025, the goal is to accelerate Lam Dong and make a breakthrough". To accelerate and make a breakthrough, Lam Dong has thoroughly grasped and seriously and fully implemented the policies of the Central Government, in a very urgent and synchronous spirit. In leadership and direction, it is strong and decisive. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee is also very responsive, innovative and breakthrough.

Identifying people as the decisive factor for development and perfecting the organization, political system, streamlining, effective and efficient operations, associated with restructuring the staff is an opportunity for Lam Dong to "screen" to "choose the right people, assign the right jobs". Regarding this issue, the Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee said: "Lam Dong has implemented content that exceeds the Central's plan. Through the implementation process, many valuable experiences have been drawn, that is, what is right, necessary and for the common good, we are determined to do; what is not right, we will resolutely not do". Therefore, currently, the problem of many jobs being blocked due to avoidance and pushing is no longer, replaced by a strong spirit of doing. This can be considered a very important change in the awareness and action of cadres and party members of Lam Dong province. He requested that cadres and party members must carry out the motto: "Do the right thing - avoid the wrong thing; do the good thing - avoid the bad thing; do the right thing - avoid the bad thing".

One step too late is a missed beat. One step too late is a missed opportunity. Clearly identifying what the province has and is having is the basis for Lam Dong province to be determined to achieve the GRDP growth target of 9-10% in 2025. The Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee affirmed: “The growth target of 9-10% is completely achievable based on its potential and advantages. The province has been implementing many synchronous and drastic solutions to promote economic growth, including: Reviewing and revoking slow-progressing and ineffective projects; speeding up the implementation of key projects and works; focusing on removing difficulties and obstacles for businesses; promoting investment attraction, especially investment in potential fields”.

Regarding specific solutions, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hong Thai discussed: The Provincial People's Committee will establish an interdisciplinary inspection team to review all 203 projects and 18,000 hectares of land that are "suspended", with no projects implemented for many years, leading to waste of resources. If any project is not implemented or does not have enough resources, it will be reclaimed. The province has also worked with a number of chip manufacturing, semiconductor and computing companies to attract this source of investment and the progress is very positive...

To ensure conditions for development, Lam Dong is currently accelerating the implementation of expressway projects, upgrading national highways connecting Lam Dong with neighboring provinces, building dry ports in Duc Trong district and upgrading Lien Khuong International Airport... Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee also focuses on removing planning difficulties to invite reputable domestic and foreign investors to invest in building high-quality hospitals, inter-level bilingual schools, conference services, resorts, international standard hotels... so that people can gradually enjoy high-class social amenities. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hong Thai affirmed: "Those who make Lam Dong richer, more beautiful and Lam Dong people happier, the Provincial People's Committee will serve wholeheartedly and thoughtfully".

In addition, Lam Dong also focuses on effectively implementing the tasks according to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, creativity and national digital transformation. This is the basis for the province to build advanced and modern digital technology infrastructure. Build a smart city for Da Lat city. Attract large technology organizations and enterprises in the world to set up headquarters, invest in research and production in Lam Dong...

To achieve the set goals, we need the consensus of the entire political system and the people. “With the support of the people, we will be able to fulfill the requirements and tasks, no matter how difficult they are,” Comrade Nguyen Thai Hoc affirmed.

These days, the people of the Southern Central Highlands are reliving the joyful atmosphere of the liberation day, of the happiness of national reunification. And along with that, the spirit of construction is also spreading, the people of Lam Dong today are continuing to write new pages of history of development, stability, and prosperity to rise up together with the whole country.
