My deep impression of Captain Pham Van Manh is the image of him wearing a field raincoat, directly directing the engineering teams to carry out the task of detecting mines and explosives in the Dien Hong flower garden area under heavy rain, ensuring absolute safety for the preliminary rehearsal of the parade, the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. Sharing about this special task, Manh modestly said: "To be able to contribute my small efforts to the success of a major political event is an honor, so no matter how hard it is, we will try our best to complete the assigned task."

Graduated with honors in Construction from the Engineering Officer School, Pham Van Manh worked at the 544th Engineering Battalion, a unit assigned to train, prepare for combat, build defense works and especially detect and remove bombs, mines and explosives. This is an ideal environment for him to apply his knowledge into practice. Over the past 8 years, he has directly participated in and successfully completed many important and outstanding tasks, such as: Salvaging and handling 12 bombs left over from the war in Hanoi; working with the mine detection unit to liberate many hectares of land for socio- economic development; detecting mines to ensure safety for thousands of important political events of the Capital and the State; participating in creating fake (smoke, fire, explosives), detecting mines, responding to building collapses in drills.

As a Company Commander, Captain Pham Van Manh always upholds the spirit of responsibility and constantly innovates management and command methods. According to him, to perform the task well, soldiers must be trained to skillfully use the equipment and vehicles in their ranks, especially new and specialized equipment and vehicles, such as: Barbed wire vehicles, multi-purpose rescue vehicles. Along with that, it is necessary to make a breakthrough in improving the quality of engineering training, especially the content of explosives, obstacles, fortifications, tunnels... Therefore, the unit always maintains strict training, according to the plan, closely following the motto "basic, practical, solid", synchronous, in-depth training, close to the target, focusing on practice".

In particular, he is well aware that performing engineering tasks has a high risk of insecurity, so along with training soldiers to be good at their profession, he always focuses on educating, nurturing, and training officers and soldiers to be meticulous, persistent, brave, and have a high sense of discipline in performing their tasks. With outstanding achievements in work, in 2025, Captain Pham Van Manh was awarded a certificate of merit by the Minister of National Defense and the Hanoi Capital Command; for many consecutive years he was awarded the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level; for many consecutive years he was a Party member who excellently completed his tasks.

Commenting on his subordinate, Lieutenant Colonel Do Van Hai, Political Commissar of the Battalion proudly said: “Comrade Pham Van Manh is a young and enthusiastic cadre, always going first and last in carrying out his duties. He is truly a shining example of courage, sense of responsibility and silent dedication, shining with the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, a soldier of the Capital in the new era”./.
