Uncle Ho's Good Children in the New Era: Role Models Wearing Red Scarves

BDK - During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always reserved special love and attention for children. “Children are the future masters of the country. Therefore, taking good care of and educating them is the task of the entire Party and the entire people. This work must be done persistently and persistently” (excerpt from the article “Raising the responsibility for taking care of and educating children” by President Ho Chi Minh, published in Nhan Dan Newspaper, No. 5526, June 1, 1969). Across the country and in the province, many heroic children during the struggle for independence have been recorded in history and continue the tradition, training to be good children of Uncle Ho in the new period.

Brave youth and children

The feelings and teachings of President Ho Chi Minh for teenagers and children are still valuable. He not only had special feelings for the "young buds" - the future owners of the country, but he also taught them to love their country and their compatriots... From that sacred feeling of beloved President Ho Chi Minh, many heroic examples of teenagers and children participating in revolutionary activities and fighting against foreign invaders have been engraved in history, serving as shining examples for future generations.

Across the country, there are many young heroes, including Kim Dong (real name Nong Van Den, a Nung ethnic group, from Cao Bang province), who was one of the first five team members and the leader of the Young Pioneers organization when it was first established. Vo Thi Sau (from Dat Do district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), who was only 12 years old when she participated in revolutionary activities, and at 14 years old, she bravely used a grenade to kill the enemy...

In the Dong Khoi - Ben Tre area, there are many examples of children and team members who joined the revolution and contributed to the struggle for independence for the homeland. History has recorded that at 9:00 a.m. on the second day of Tet Mau Than in 1968, team member Huynh Van Thuc (Cho Lach) hugged the revolutionary flag of the Southern Liberation Army, stormed the enemy's post in Cong hamlet, Phu Phung commune, lowered the enemy flag and raised the liberation flag, shouting: "Uncles, the revolutionary brothers have occupied the post, put down your guns and surrender". Being suddenly threatened and storming the post with the revolutionary forces, 16 enemy soldiers surrendered, we captured many guns and weapons. Team member Huynh Van Thuc was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State on February 23, 2011.

Or the story of the child protecting General Nguyen Thi Dinh. After the Geneva Agreement, Miss Ba - General Nguyen Thi Dinh was assigned to stay in the South and continued to face the arduous struggle. She stayed with the base and the people to carry out revolutionary activities. In 1958, the enemy offered a reward of 10,000 VND for anyone who could inform and capture Nguyen Thi Dinh. One day, Miss Ba returned to Phuoc Thanh (Chau Thanh district), while she was in a revolutionary base, the enemy detected her and sent troops to surround and capture her. In that situation, she quickly hid in a secret cellar in the house, when she went down into the cellar, water flooded the mouth of the cellar. When the soldiers stormed the house, her parents were away, only Nguyen Thi Thanh (13 years old) and a younger sibling remained. At that time, Thanh quickly broke the pot of broken pork to cover the mouth of the cellar to hide from the enemy, so Miss Ba escaped the enemy's pursuit.

Many typical examples

In recent years, with the attention and care of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, all levels and sectors, directly the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers, the work of protecting, caring for, educating teenagers and children and building the provincial Young Pioneers organization has achieved many good results. Through the movements of the Young Pioneers, many outstanding young faces have emerged in the fields of study and training, worthy of being good children, good students, good team members, and Uncle Ho's good children.

A typical example is Pham Nguyen Ti Na - Team Leader, class 8/5, Cho Lach Town Secondary School (Cho Lach district), who has had many outstanding achievements in studying and participating in the Team, including the title of "Little Soldier of Dien Bien" at the provincial level in the 2023-2024 school year, the title of "Good Grandchild of Uncle Ho" at the district level for the period 2020 - 2025, the title of "New Dong Khoi Children" in 2024...

Or the example of Dao Khuong Duy - Deputy Team Leader of Class 8/1, Huynh Tan Phat Secondary School (Binh Dai), he has many outstanding achievements in Team activities. In particular, he won the National First Prize of the 52nd UPU International Letter Writing Competition (2023), the Creative Youth Badge in 2023, the Kim Dong Award for the 2023-2024 school year, the title "Uncle Ho's Good Child" at the district level for the period 2020 - 2025...
