(CPV) - Female taekwondo athlete Chau Tuyet Van won 2 Gold Medals in 2 consecutive days at the world championship.
On the afternoon of December 3, Chau Tuyet Van won her second gold medal at the 2024 World Taekwondo Championships in Hong Kong. Accordingly, Chau Tuyet Van continued to win the gold medal in the U50 standard mixed doubles event with Nguyen Thien Phung after defeating the Danish pair in the final.
In the first round, Chau Tuyet Van and Nguyen Thien Phung were awarded 9,040 points by the referee. Dan Mac was only awarded 8,640 points due to his unbalanced kick.
In the second round, Chau Tuyet Van and Nguyen Thien Phung continued to perform excellently to win 8,980 points, despite their opponent's 8,940 points, thereby winning a well-deserved gold medal.

This is the third gold medal of the Vietnamese team at the tournament. Previously, on the competition day yesterday (December 2), Chau Tuyet Van and her two teammates Nguyen Thi Le Kim and Lien Thi Tuyet Mai had successfully defeated Korea to win the gold medal in the U50 standard women's team event. The remaining gold medal of the Vietnamese team was in the mixed-women's team event with athletes Ho Thanh An, Nguyen Ngoc Minh Hy, Nguyen Thanh Hien Linh, Nguyen Thi Y Binh, Tran Dang Khoa, Tran Phuong Nhung. In addition, the Vietnamese team also won 2 bronze medals in the youth men's team, youth women's team and U30 women's team events.
With 2 gold medals at the World Boxing Championship, Chau Tuyet Van has 6 gold medals after 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014. This achievement is even more memorable for this 34-year-old girl when she won 2 gold medals after 10 years of missing the highest title at this official tournament.
The tournament will continue until tomorrow (December 4), with many possibilities of winning medals in other events. But with a total of 3 gold medals up to now, Vietnamese taekwondo is having an extremely successful tournament.
