Chery launches Himla pickup truck, competing with Toyota Hilux

At the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, Chery Group officially introduced a new sub-brand called Himla, specializing in the production of pickup trucks.

The all-new Chery Himla is considered the next step in Chery's strategy to expand its already diverse product portfolio, following brands such as Exeed, Omoda, Jaecoo and iCar.

Accordingly, the first product of the new Himla 2026 is a mid-size pickup truck, positioned to compete directly with prominent names such as Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Triton or Nissan Navara.

The exterior design of the 2026 Himla pickup truck is reminiscent of the KP11 model that Chery introduced last October, but has been refined with new paint colors, different wheel designs, and some additional decorative details. The front of the car impresses with a large radiator grille, along with the prominent “Chery” lettering.

The car has separate LED lights, large wheel arches and a square front end that gives a strong feeling typical of pickup trucks. The steps are integrated into the rear bumper, accompanied by alloy wheels and all-terrain tires. In terms of interior, the car's cabin is equipped with a large central screen and a digital clock cluster.

The interior is upholstered in light-colored leather and the rear seats have their own air-conditioning vents, suggesting that this could be the top-of-the-line version of the Himla product range. The truck bed is comparable in size to competitors in the mid-size pickup segment, suitable for both transportation and personalization purposes.

Currently, Chery has not announced detailed specifications of the new Himla pickup model, but it is likely that the vehicle will use a separate ladder-type chassis structure - a common standard in the segment.

In terms of powertrain, the company plans to offer many options: from gasoline engines, hybrids to pure electric vehicles, in line with the electrification trend that is spreading in the auto industry.

Himla will not only serve the domestic Chinese market, but also aim to export to Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. This brand plans to develop a full range of pickup trucks from small, medium to large sizes... the price of the Chery Himla 2026 has not been announced yet.
