Chi Linh City currently has tens of thousands of urban trees. The total area of parks, flower gardens, and median strips with flowers and trees is tens of hectares. The trees, flowers on the sidewalks, median strips, and roundabouts in Chi Linh are regularly cared for, creating a beautiful landscape for the city.
Chi Linh Transport, Environment and Urban Joint Stock Company is the unit directly managing and taking care of parks, trees and ornamental flowers here. Mr. Do Duy Duong, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of this Company, said that on the main roads through the city such as National Highway 18 and National Highway 37, mainly black star trees and Taiwanese banyan trees are planted. At Sao Do Square, milk flower, red phoenix flower, cypress, yellow orchid, purple lagerstroemia, yellow cassia, yellow cassia, etc. are planted and developed by Chi Linh City so that each type of tree and flower is suitable for the soil conditions, landscape, environment and creates a highlight for the city.
On inner-city roads, trees are planted in a uniform variety, contributing to increasing urban aesthetics. In addition, flowering shrubs on median strips and traffic islands on inner-city roads are designed to be planted and maintained regularly in a simple, neat manner, ensuring aesthetics. Currently, Chi Linh Transport, Environment and Urban Joint Stock Company has a Green Park Team with about 30 people assigned to manage and take care of trees, flowers on sidewalks, streets, median strips, etc.
Everywhere response
Responding to the city's spring tree planting movement, Cong Hoa ward has promoted and mobilized people, residential areas, offices, and schools to actively plant trees along roads, office grounds, and family land. From the beginning of the year to mid-March 2024, Cong Hoa ward has planted 350 Bauhinia trees, 500 Casuarina trees, Do trees, and hundreds of other trees on a number of local roads.
Along with the renovation of inter-village and inter-commune roads, planting trees along local roadsides creates a corridor to protect traffic routes and at the same time creates a more beautiful landscape. Comrade Nguyen Quang Dung, Vice Chairman of Cong Hoa Ward People's Committee, said that recently, the focus on developing trees in urban projects, new residential areas, and industrial parks has also contributed significantly to the local green tree system.
Tan Dan Ward also effectively implemented the movement "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho in the spring of Giap Thin 2024" and the plan to plant scattered trees and afforest in 2024.
From the beginning of the year to March 15, Tan Dan ward's branches and unions mobilized more than 1,400 trees to plant on traffic routes, residential areas, schools, and offices, exceeding the expected plan by 43%. Comrade Nguyen Duc Thinh, Chairman of Tan Dan Ward People's Committee, said that among thousands of trees and flowers of various kinds such as trumpet trees, hibiscus, acacia, etc. planted in the locality in early 2024, many trees were from socialized sources. Many businesses have actively responded to the tree planting movement, directly donating trees to the locality. With orientations on developing a green city and protecting the environment, Tan Dan continues to implement many solutions to build a civilized lifestyle, for a green, clean, and beautiful city.
In addition to the urban green tree system, Chi Linh also focuses on restoring and developing the natural ecosystem and focusing on developing the forest economy . In recent times, the city has mobilized resources, introduced more native trees into production forests. At the same time, it has renovated production forests, introduced Dalbergia tonkinensis, a type of timber with high economic value, into planting in Bac An and Hoang Hoa Tham communes with a scale of about 1,200 hectares. Along with developing production forests, the city has strengthened the protection of protective forests, special-use forests, and upstream forests... Currently, Chi Linh City has more than 9,534 hectares of forest, of which about 4,271 hectares are protective forests, 4,046 hectares are production forests, and the rest are special-use forests.
Over the years, the Tet tree planting movement has been organized by Chi Linh City practically and effectively, associated with the construction of a civilized and modern urban area. In 2023, the whole city planted over 180,000 trees, and planted more than 34 hectares of exploited forests. Localities with many trees are: Hoang Hoa Tham, Hoang Tien, Bac An, Ben Tam...
In 2024, Chi Linh City strives to plant more than 180,000 trees; 64.2 hectares of replacement forest, including 11.8 hectares of special-use forest and 52.4 hectares of protective forest. This is the locality with the largest tree planting plan in the whole province.
Preliminary statistics from the beginning of the year to March 21, Chi Linh City has planted 83,000 trees including 19,000 acacia, casuarina, eucalyptus trees, 12,000 landscape and shade trees and 52,000 other trees; planted 5.54 hectares of production forest.
