(CT) - According to the Can Tho City Statistics Office, the consumer price index in May 2025 decreased by 0.42% compared to the previous month, and increased by 2.93% over the same period last year. The group of food and catering services; housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials; and transportation are the 3 groups of goods with large price index decreases, causing the city's general consumer price index to decrease. The average consumer price index in the first 5 months of 2025 increased by 4.01% over the average of the same period last year.

Specifically, in May 2025, 4/11 groups of consumer goods and services decreased in price compared to the previous month, including: beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.03%; food and catering services decreased by 0.34%, transportation decreased by 0.62%; housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials decreased by 1.52%. There were 4 groups of goods and services increased in price compared to the previous month, including: culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.03%; other goods and services increased by 0.32%; household equipment and appliances increased by 0.06%; medicine and medical services increased by 0.08%. The price index of the garment, hat, footwear group; post and telecommunications and education group remained stable compared to the previous month.
