An Thanh Trung completes advanced new rural commune program.
According to Nguyen Van Be Hai, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of An Thanh Trung commune, after achieving the New Rural Area standard in 2021, An Thanh Trung commune continued to focus on implementing solutions to consolidate and improve the quality of criteria, creating a solid foundation for building the commune to achieve the advanced New Rural Area standard in accordance with the Party Committee's policies and resolutions, with the goal of further improving the material and spiritual lives of the people. With the determination of the entire political system and the consensus of the people, the rural landscape has changed significantly, from infrastructure and environmental landscape to income and living conditions. This result was achieved thanks to the commune's effective application of the motto: "Do the easy things first, the difficult things later," combined with the approach of "Going door to door" to disseminate information, mobilize support, create consensus, and promote the role of the people in implementing the advanced New Rural Area construction program.
Regarding An Thanh Trung today, rural infrastructure has been invested in comprehensively, the new rural area has a new look, the material and spiritual lives of the people have been improved, and poverty reduction and job creation have been effective. The average per capita income at the end of 2024 reached over 76 million VND. The poverty rate according to the advanced new rural area criteria has decreased to 0.61%.
Over the years, the commune has maximized its local potential and strengths to develop its economy. In particular, in the agricultural sector, investments have been made in developing irrigation systems, restructuring the agricultural industry, applying science and technology to production, implementing high-value agricultural production models, and transforming crop and livestock structures to suit local conditions, helping to increase profits for farmers. A prime example is Nguyen Thanh Tung from An Phu hamlet, who successfully transformed his crop structure with a durian cultivation model on 12,000 square meters. “On average, 1,000 square meters of durian cultivation can yield a profit of 30 million VND per year after 5 years, significantly improving my family's living standards,” Mr. Tung shared.
With the efforts of the entire political system and the consensus of the people, in the new phase of implementing a two-tiered government, localities in Cho Moi continue to fulfill their "mission" of building new rural areas to a new level, with the goal of continuously improving the material and spiritual lives of the people.
