Informing the press, Mr. Le Thanh Dung, Director of the Department of Population, said that up to now, no country in the world has a Population Law, Vietnam is the first country to draft this law.
"The Population Law cannot cover all the wishes of more than 100 million people, but it aims to meet the maximum needs of the people," Mr. Le Thanh Dung shared, adding that the draft law has many policies to maintain the replacement birth rate, adapting to the very rapid rate of population aging in our country.

Clarifying some proposals and regulations in the draft law, the leader of the Population Department said that the draft law previously stipulated that women who give birth to two children or men who have two biological children but are unmarried or have a deceased wife, are given priority in enjoying social housing policies to reduce the housing burden so that they can focus on caring for and raising their children.
However, after that, many people argued about this issue, many people said that there were still loopholes when "men divorced to buy social housing and then remarried". Therefore, in order for the law to be promulgated without any legal gaps, the latest draft was revised to stipulate that "men with 2 biological children and their wives' death will be given priority to buy social housing". For men with 2 biological children but no wife, priority will not be proposed as before to ensure the related legal gaps.
