This dessert called Byakuya ("white night" in Japanese) was just certified by Guinness as the " world's most expensive ice cream" last week.
Each serving of Byakuya ice cream costs 880,000 yen ($6,398). The reason it is so expensive is because its ingredients include edible gold leaf, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, and sake lees.
In particular, the ingredient also includes white Alba truffles, the most expensive edible mushroom in the world and a rare ingredient known as the "diamond of the kitchen".

"It took us over a year and a half to develop with a lot of trial and error to get the flavour right," a Cellato spokesperson told Guinness, adding that the ice cream maker is planning to launch other flavoured ice creams, including ingredients like champagne and caviar.
Cellato enlisted Tadayoshi Yamada, the head chef of RiVi - an Osaka restaurant known for its fusion cuisine combining European and Japanese ingredients - to create Byakuya ice cream.
If receiving orders from a distance, within Japan, Cellato will transport ice cream by air, frozen to ensure flavor.
Cellato also sells a much cheaper ice cream called Starry Night made with black truffles and chocolate for 10,000 yen ($73).
