FIFA President sends condolences to referee Tran Dinh Thinh's family

According to information from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the FIFA President sent a letter of deep condolences to the family of referee Tran Dinh Thinh, who used to be a FIFA referee and made many significant contributions to matches in the V-League.

In the letter, FIFA President Gianni Infantino acknowledged the great contributions of referee Tran Dinh Thinh to Vietnamese football: “A former FIFA referee who officiated many important matches in the V-League. He has always been highly regarded for his dedication, standards and sense of responsibility. His contributions, both on and off the field, will never be forgotten and he will always be remembered with respect.”

The FIFA President also sent his deepest condolences to VFF, family, friends and relatives of referee Tran Dinh Thinh.

The sudden passing of referee Tran Dinh Thinh has shocked the entire Vietnamese football world. On the morning of August 3, during a physical examination at the Hanoi Athletics Palace, referee Tran Dinh Thinh - who had just been awarded the Silver Whistle title of V-League 2024-2025 - suddenly collapsed during the final run. Although he was given timely first aid and taken to the hospital, he did not survive. This loss was a great shock to Vietnamese football. On August 7, referee Tran Dinh Thinh was laid to rest in his hometown of Dinh Quan, Dong Nai province.

Referee Tran Dinh Thinh, one of the best referees in V-League, has had an impressive career, not only standing out for his strictness in work but also receiving many noble titles.

Referee Tran Dinh Thinh has been awarded the title "Bronze Whistle" for the 2023-2024 V-League season and "Silver Whistle" for the 2024-2025 season.
