President Ho Chi Minh was a man of universal stature, a great revolutionary who fought tirelessly for the best cause of Vietnam and humanity, a very great but also very humble man. This is the assessment of Dr. Ruvislei González Sáez, a leading expert on Vietnam in the Latin American region.

Dr. González Sáez, who is also Vice President of the Cuba - Vietnam Friendship Association, affirmed that the great ideology of President Ho Chi Minh - one of the most important figures of the 20th century - still lives forever in the hearts of millions of Vietnamese people and all revolutionaries in the world . He shared: “Nguyen Sinh Cung, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Nguyen Ai Quoc, are many names of the great thinker Ho Chi Minh. His humanistic and progressive ideas have gone beyond the borders of Vietnam and have had a great influence on all of humanity”.
After many years of researching Vietnam, the Cuban scholar greatly admired Uncle Ho, who overcame his circumstances with his thoughts and actions, devoted his whole life to tireless struggle and became a figure of all time.
According to Mr. González Sáez, President Ho Chi Minh was both a dreamer and a realist. He dreamed of a better future for his people and oppressed peoples around the world, and he became the architect of a new Vietnam. He led the nation out of the darkness of colonialism, eliminated illiteracy, and turned it into a socialist country ten times more beautiful than before.
Today, the S-shaped strip of land in Southeast Asia is rising to become one of the 15 most dynamic economies in the world. Since 1930, when the Communist Party of Vietnam was founded, Uncle Ho spoke of the aspiration to build an independent Vietnam. He showed the way to lead the nation from slavery to independence, freedom and development.
As early as 1954, he wisely recommended that we should clearly distinguish between immediate and long-term interests, local interests and common interests. Analyzing the phenomena from the perspective of Marxism-Leninism, President Ho Chi Minh understood that the context at that time was very complicated and in the process of comprehensive development; therefore, he called for necessary preparations and timely guidance, avoiding confusion that could lead to errors in thinking and action. His teachings remain valuable today.
Researcher González Sáez was particularly impressed by President Ho Chi Minh's simple, humble and approachable demeanor. His teachings were imbued with both theoretical and practical values, demonstrating a far-sighted vision, and were simple, easy to convey and easy to remember.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Van Dong in Havana in 1974, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro emphasized: “Ho Chi Minh understood that only the working class could fight to the end, in close alliance with the peasantry and oppressed classes of the people for national independence and social liberation. That was an extraordinary contribution to the global revolutionary ideology.”
Cuban experts affirmed that Ho Chi Minh was an admirable leader of the Party and the Vietnamese people, a national liberation hero, and an outstanding cultural figure of humanity. He left behind many valuable legacies, and his ideology is the guiding principle for the Party and the Vietnamese Revolution.
Ho Chi Minh's ideology is a comprehensive and profound system of theories and politics on the fundamental issues of the Vietnamese Revolution, but with a global scope, highlighting issues affecting humanity on all continents. For that reason, the Cuba - Vietnam Friendship Association, the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples (ICAP) and the University of Havana wish to conduct further research on his ideology and promote the values of Ho Chi Minh's legacy in the new era.
Dr. González Sáez emphasized the importance of studying and continuing Ho Chi Minh's legacy to pass it on to future generations. Uncle Ho's ideology and moral foundation also play a very important role in preserving and nurturing the special traditional brotherly relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, two nations that, although geographically distant, have extremely close and similar hearts.
