On the afternoon of November 13, at the Presidential Palace,President Vo Van Thuong received General Tea Seiha - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Cambodia, who is visiting Vietnam, reported VNA.
President Vo Van Thuong believes that General Tea Seiha's visit will contribute to promoting cooperation between the two Ministries of Defense and the two armies as well as promoting the good traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
The President congratulated General Tea Seiha on being trusted and assigned important responsibilities by the Cambodian Party, State and Army. The President expressed his belief that under the reign of King Norodom Sihamoni, the leadership of the Cambodian People's Party headed by Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the close guidance of the Royal Government headed by Prime Minister Hun Manet, the Cambodian people will continue to achieve even greater achievements in the coming time.
General Tea Seiha - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Cambodia expressed his gratitude to the senior leaders of Vietnam and the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for the warm and respectful reception given to the General and his delegation during his first visit to Vietnam in his new position.
General Tea Seiha informed President Vo Van Thuong of the good results of his talks with Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang. The two sides discussed measures to promote bilateral cooperation. The General also emphasized that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense is a very important partner of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense.
The General shared that in the current new term of the Cambodian Government, there are many new members and all members are making efforts to inherit and promote the achievements of previous generations, continuing to nurture the good traditional friendship, comradeship and brotherhood between Vietnam and Cambodia to develop further.
Thanking General Tea Seiha for his sincere sharing about the cooperative relationship between the two countries' armies and peoples, President Vo Van Thuong emphasized that Vietnam always wishes to strengthen relations with Cambodia, considering this a priority in Vietnam's foreign policy.
In the overall bilateral relationship, cooperation between the two Ministries of Defense and the two armies has achieved positive, substantive, extensive and effective results in all fields, both within the bilateral and multilateral frameworks, and is truly one of the important pillars in the Vietnam - Cambodia relationship.
President Vo Van Thuong highly appreciated the very successful results of the talks between the two countries' Defense Ministers.
The President also affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam always encourage, support and create conditions for cooperation between the two armies and the two Ministries of National Defense of Vietnam and Cambodia to become increasingly substantive and effective.
In the context of complex and unpredictable developments in the regional and global situation, President Vo Van Thuong hopes that the two Ministries of National Defense will strengthen coordination in sharing defense information and regional and international issues for better cooperation.
The two sides need to continue to closely coordinate, implement existing cooperation agreements, and continue to attach importance to cooperation in training, coaching, and fostering officers, especially young officers.
The two sides continue to coordinate to manage the border well, build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, bringing benefits to the people of the two countries; and promote negotiations on demarcation and marker planting of the remaining border.
The President encouraged the two countries' Defense Ministries to increase military exchanges between localities, military regions, and army corps, thereby sharing experiences in training and building each country's army.
The President hopes that the two sides will continue to maintain high-level and all-level contacts, which is an important foundation for promoting cooperation between the two countries.
