Prepare necessary conditions to successfully organize elections at all levels

On November 24, the Can Tho City Election Committee held a conference to deploy the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

Mr. Le Quang Tung, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the Election Steering Committee of Can Tho City spoke at the conference.

Can Tho City Party Secretary Le Quang Tung, Head of the Can Tho City Election Steering Committee, said that the election taking place on March 15, 2026 is a major political event of great significance for the whole country and each locality.

The success of the election contributes to continuing to build, consolidate and perfect the socialist rule of law state of the people, by the people, for the people. The event also creates an important starting point for building and perfecting the state apparatus for the new term, creating a solid political and social foundation to successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 1st Can Tho City Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030.

Mr. Le Quang Tung requested Party committees, Election Steering Committees, Election Commissions, local authorities at all levels, sectors and localities to focus on implementing well the work of thoroughly grasping and regularly updating the Central and City's directives and instructions on elections to proactively plan implementation, prepare necessary conditions to successfully organize the election, especially Directive No. 46, Conclusion No. 184 of the Politburo, Directive No. 28 of the Prime Minister, Directive No. 02 of the City Party Committee on leading the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term to ensure that the election is conducted democratically, equally, legally, safely, economically and truly a festival for all people.

The relevant parties focus on leading the implementation of personnel work - the key step of the election. The recommended personnel must be exemplary, have a firm political stance and viewpoint, meet the standards prescribed by law, and have the capacity and conditions to perform the duties of a delegate according to regulations. This work must focus on standards and quality, not lower the standards for the sake of structure. Agencies and units are determined and absolutely do not recommend people who do not meet the standards and conditions prescribed to run for the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels.

All levels, sectors and localities shall conduct the election well, ensuring the election of sufficient numbers of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels according to regulations, especially paying attention to the quality of the deputies. Relevant parties shall ensure a reasonable structure of the number of deputies and the composition of People's Council deputies in agencies and organizations according to the Central Government's guidance; well organize the consultation, selection and introduction of candidates, and promote the people's mastery throughout the election process.

The authorities shall intensify propaganda and dissemination throughout the Party, people and army about the significance and importance of the election; the provisions of the Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies and People's Council Deputies; the position and role of the National Assembly and People's Council in the state apparatus. Units shall ensure political security, social order and safety and promptly handle election issues. Election security and safety work must be proactively, comprehensively and closely prepared; information technology must be applied and agencies and organizations in the entire city's political system must be coordinated smoothly to successfully organize the election...

At the conference, leaders of the Organizing Committee of the City Party Committee, the City People's Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, and the Election Committee of Can Tho city deployed and disseminated the Directives of the Can Tho City Party Committee, the Directives of the Chairman of the City People's Committee; the Plan to participate in the election work of the City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; the Election Organization Plan of the City Election Committee on leading and directing the organization of the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term.
