At around 3 p.m., a group of employees from the Ho Chi Minh City Public Lighting Company were maintaining a flower-shaped steel chandelier with eight square light boxes at the Hang Xanh intersection in Binh Thanh District. At that moment, the chandelier, 2 meters in diameter and weighing about 100 kg, suddenly fell from above to the ground. The group of people standing below quickly ran away.
There were no vehicles passing by at the time of the incident. The lighting system was damaged, and the bulbs were scattered on the median strip.

Ms. Hoa, who sells soft drinks nearby, said she heard a loud noise that could have broken the string holding the lamp post. "About four employees working under the lamp post ran to avoid it, but one of them fell onto the road and was injured," Ms. Hoa said.
The victim suffered a broken shoulder, arm, and multiple injuries. Medical staff then used wooden splints to immobilize and bandage his body parts before taking him to the hospital.
Hang Xanh Intersection (Hang Xanh Roundabout) is the intersection of two major roads, Dien Bien Phu and Xo Viet Nghe Tinh. This place has a fairly high traffic density because it connects the eastern gateway with the center of Ho Chi Minh City. At the intersection, there are 4 light clusters placed at 4 corners of the street. This type of light is used to illuminate the road surface and overpasses.
