Joining hands to build a new era in An Giang - Part 1: Building a strong Party to make a breakthrough

The 1st Congress of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term will open a new page in the local history. The goals, targets, breakthroughs and solutions have been clearly defined in the draft Political Report. However, each decision of the Party Committee is only truly successful when it becomes the will and action of the entire people. This series of political articles contributes to the drafting of documents, arousing aspirations, mobilizing intelligence and solidarity so that An Giang can firmly enter a new era of development.

The Draft Political Report of the 1st An Giang Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030 (Draft Political Report), puts "Party building as the key" and considers this a prerequisite to turn the province into a fairly developed locality of the country by 2030. After the merger, the lesson learned is: Only when the roots are strong, the tree will last; Only when the Party is strong, An Giang will have enough strength to break through in the new era.

Keep a strong mindset

In life, rice plants and mangrove trees, if their roots are strong, can withstand storms. The same is true for revolution, "Only when the Party is strong can the revolution succeed", Uncle Ho's advice from 1947 to the present still holds true. The draft Political Report clearly states that it is necessary to "strengthen Party building in terms of politics, ideology, and ethics", improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the entire Party; firmly adhere to organizational principles, promote democracy associated with maintaining discipline and order; proactively forecast, grasp the ideological situation, orient public opinion, and create social consensus. This is both an urgent requirement and the foundation for successfully achieving all goals.

Practices over the years have shown that wherever the Party Committee is united, the leader is exemplary, and is close to the grassroots, the movement will grow, and the people will believe and follow. On the contrary, wherever the Party organization is loose, internally disunited, and far from the people, everything will stagnate. In the 2020-2025 term, the whole province completed and exceeded most of the targets on Party building, including developing new Party members beyond the set plan; at the same time, resolutely removing from the Party those who violated and were no longer qualified.

Inspection and supervision work is carried out regularly, comprehensively, objectively, publicly, democratically, focusing on areas prone to negativity and sensitivity such as land management, public investment, finance, and budget. In just one term, many violations were discovered and strictly handled, strengthening the people's trust. This shows that the determination to "rectify from the root, fight degradation from the top" as proposed in the draft Political Report is a concrete action.

In addition, the draft Political Report emphasizes the task of improving the quality of cadres, especially leaders, selecting and arranging people who are truly virtuous, talented, honest, dedicated, and “for the country and the people”. This is the way to ensure the foundation for cadres to always be steadfast, from which all Party decisions come into life. Uncle Ho once advised: “All successes or failures depend on good or bad cadres”.

Party building - the root of all development goals

The development perspective for the 2025 - 2030 term is clearly stated in the draft Political Report: " Socio -economic development is the center; Party building is the key; cultural development is the spiritual foundation; ensuring national defense, security, and foreign affairs are essential and regular". The goal by 2030 is for An Giang to become a fairly developed province with a strong marine economy and synchronous strategic infrastructure; the Long Xuyen - Chau Doc - Rach Gia - Ha Tien quadrangle is the driving force for industrial, logistics, and tourism development; and Phu Quoc special zone reaches international standards.

But to realize that vision, the Party must have enough prestige and courage to lead the entire people. Uncle Ho affirmed: "Cadres are the root of all work". If the root is weak, the tree will have difficulty standing; if the Party is not strong, all major plans will easily falter in the face of difficulties. On the contrary, when the Party is strong, the political system will be strong, the people will trust, the people will be united and the province will be able to take advantage of opportunities and resolve challenges.

Looking from reality, good models in Chau Doc, Tri Ton, Tinh Bien show that when Party committees are creative, stick to reality, and promote democracy, the movement develops, people's lives are significantly improved, and security and order are maintained. That is a living proof of the truth that "the Party's will matches the people's will".

After the merger, the new An Giang not only has a larger area and population but also bears greater responsibility for the region and the whole country. The lessons learned from the years of resistance and the renovation period remain intact: If the people trust, the Party will be strong. To do so, each cadre and party member must truly be a "loyal servant of the people", must live simply, honestly, and be devoted to the common work.

The roots of the rice plant need to be fertilized, the roots of the Party need to be cared for. Building a clean and strong Party organization is not a matter of one day or one afternoon but a long-term, persistent and enduring task. The new term is about to begin and the road ahead is still full of hardships. However, if every Party Committee, every cadre and Party member engraves Uncle Ho's words in their hearts, keeping the word "people" in their hearts, the Party Committee of An Giang province will firmly lead the province into a new era of development.
