In 2025, tourism will still be a bright spot
At the end of March, it was a weekday, so Sam Son beach (Thanh Hoa) was deserted with tourists. However, the general scene was still kept clean. Ms. Tran Thi Kim Qui, Permanent Deputy General Director of FLC Hotels & Resorts, said: "The company and many tourism businesses are looking for ways to attract tourists to Thanh Hoa even during the low season. The company always changes and builds suitable and flexible product packages for each period, preferential policies and stimulus programs, seasonal promotions, early booking incentives, enhancing local experiences, integrating cultural exploration activities, regional cuisine right at the resort, easy booking policies, flexible refunds and cancellations".
According to Ms. Tran Thi Kim Qui, the general thinking of Vietnamese people and many international tourists coming to our country is that Vietnam is very beautiful. The whole S-shaped strip to the islands of the country is a myriad of interesting experiences, each destination, each region has its own characteristics and is a long story about history, culture, and cuisine. Therefore, it would be great if we could effectively exploit those potentials to attract tourists.
Not only beautiful scenery, unique culture, friendly people, in recent years, the relaxed visa policy, direct flights and the appearance of luxury and classy hotels... have helped to elevate the position of Vietnamese tourism. Ms. Le Thi To Linh, Deputy Head of Passenger Trade Department ( Vietnam Airlines ) said: "In the first 3 months of the year, the total number of passengers of Vietnam Airlines has grown well. The airline is continuing to focus on opening many international routes this year. In May, Vietnam Airlines opened 3 routes, including 2 routes to India and reopened 1 route to Russia. In July and November this year, the airline plans to open new routes. 2025 is also a year with many important events for the nation, the year the whole country celebrates the 80th anniversary of National Day and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, Vietnam Airlines will also have big programs for these anniversaries".
On March 25, the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 opened with the theme "Hue - Ancient Capital, New Opportunities", opening a series of cultural, sports and tourism activities taking place in provinces and cities across the country. 2025 is expected to be a milestone marking the strong return of Vietnamese tourism, with hopeful goals of welcoming 22-23 million international visitors and 120-130 million domestic visitors. Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of the Vietnam Institute for Tourism Development Research, informed: "In the first 3 months of the year, the number of international and domestic visitors increased rapidly, showing that tourism in 2025 has many prospects for development and will still be a bright spot for the Vietnamese economy".

Stimulating demand in the new situation
Although there are many prospects, according to experts, in 2025, the global tourism industry in general and Vietnam in particular will face a "price storm" that will change both the behavior of tourists and those working in tourism.
As someone who has worked in the tourism industry for many years, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat, General Director of AZA Travel Company Limited, commented: “The current trend of tourists has also changed. In the past, tourists often had to follow existing, traditional models, even though there were many parts of a tour that they did not like. But now, finding information about travel, food, accommodation, restaurants, etc. is very easy. Tourists are able to organize their trips according to their preferences, personalizing their trips according to their needs. They can stop by for a bowl of pho in the locality, cao lau in Hoi An, com hen in Hue, etc. for only a few tens of thousands of dong instead of ordering a multi-course meal in restaurants. They can also go to trendy cafes such as country cafes in Hoi An, brick kiln cafes, drink tea and watch the sunset, travel according to movies, according to the new hit song "Bac Bling", go see Ha Anh Tuan's show, etc. In order to reduce the cost of the trip, many people choose to hunt for cheap air tickets, go on tours in low season".
Stimulating demand by reducing prices has proven to be ineffective. According to Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association: “Tourism is a comprehensive economic sector, where the main product is service. If we only focus on reducing prices without improving service quality, we will lose both customers and brand value. We also have to understand that global prices are climbing, from air tickets to hotels and services. In that context, the issue to discuss is not “cheap prices” but “value”. If we keep chasing discounts, Vietnamese tourism will be positioned as a cheap destination, making it difficult to compete in the high-end, long-stay segment. That means adding amenities and value-added services so that customers feel it is worth the money they spend. For example, giving away extra meals, souvenirs or some free experiences. Some tourism businesses have started to follow this direction and have achieved initial success.”
With the development of technology, the tricks to scam tourists are now very sophisticated, especially when scammers exploit the psychology of many people who love cheap things. Recently, Serena Resort Kim Boi (Hoa Binh) warned tourists about a fake fanpage to trick customers into booking services. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy General Manager of the resort, said: “The counterfeit behavior not only seriously affects the reputation and image of the resort but also causes heavy damage and loses the trust of customers. We hope that the authorities will resolutely intervene to strictly handle this fraudulent behavior in accordance with the provisions of the law. We also hope that customers should only transfer payment for services to the corporate bank account that has been officially announced or registered with the state agency. Most importantly, before making a reservation, please carefully research the information, contact the resort directly via the hotline number, the official website that has notified the Ministry of Industry and Trade for advice. If you see cheap, deeply discounted prices, be suspicious and vigilant.”
Having witnessed many similar scams and sharing that her own company had also been impersonated, Ms. Nguyen Hoai Thu, Director of Saigontourist Travel Service Company Limited, Hanoi branch, said: "Before the government agencies intervene, customers can protect themselves by being cautious with all unverified information."
