Innovation in teaching and learning methods on digital platforms

Digital transformation is opening up flexible and creative learning spaces for teachers and students in the capital. Instead of relying solely on traditional lesson plans or lectures, many schools in Hanoi have strongly applied information technology in teaching such as using virtual classrooms, electronic lectures, digital learning banks and online learning platforms. Innovation in teaching methods not only helps students proactively acquire knowledge, but also promotes self-study capacity, critical thinking and teamwork. Teachers are also supported by a system of digital tools, helping to monitor learning progress and assess students' abilities more accurately and promptly.

Talking about digital transformation, teacher Nguyen Thi Hanh, homeroom teacher of class 10D5, Thuong Cat High School (Thuong Cat ward) said that she herself clearly felt the obvious change in teaching and learning: Previously, knowledge transmission was mainly by chalk and blackboard, but now teachers use online platforms, simulation software, and artificial intelligence tools to illustrate lectures more vividly, helping students absorb knowledge faster and remember more easily. Students can also access documents, do exercises, and discuss in groups in digital space anytime, anywhere.

Ms. Hanh shared that digital transformation helps the management, evaluation and storage of learning data become more scientific and transparent. Teachers can track the progress of each student through the system, thereby adjusting the method more suitable for each student. However, digital transformation also requires teachers to study continuously, to "update themselves" so as not to fall behind. It is a challenge, but also an opportunity for teachers to innovate their thinking, work with a creative and adaptive spirit.

“Currently, grade books, report cards, lecture books, lesson books, student attendance books, lesson plans... have all been digitized. Teachers have also used electronic signatures, helping to reduce the burden of managing students by books, switching to management by software. In particular, digital transformation has effectively supported the input of student scores, avoiding confusion between students when teachers entered scores manually into paper books in the past. Professional exchange between teachers, assigning homework to students is also very convenient, without the need for expensive printing, and fast,” said teacher Nguyen Thi Hanh.

In reality, digital transformation not only contributes to changing teachers' methods of imparting knowledge but also helps students proactively monitor their learning progress and assess their own abilities more accurately and promptly.

Nguyen Huyen Anh, a 12th grade student at Marie Curie Van Phu Secondary and High School (Phu La Ward), shared that digital transformation makes learning more lively and accessible. Teachers often assign assignments, grade them, and give feedback directly on the system, so students can immediately know where they went wrong and make adjustments. On the digital learning platform, students can also review lectures, practice more, and learn at their own pace.

According to Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong, from the 2021-2022 school year, the Hanoi Education sector has issued and implemented a digital transformation plan until 2025, with a vision to 2030, with key tasks including: Building a synchronous information technology infrastructure, digital transformation in management, digital transformation in teaching and learning activities, improving digital capacity for teachers and students, ensuring information security and educational data. The implementation is carried out methodically, synchronously and with a roadmap to ensure that digital transformation is not just a formality but really goes into depth, effectively serving management work and improving the quality of education.

Building a smart education ecosystem

Hanoi is gradually forming a smart education ecosystem, where technology becomes a bridge between schools, teachers, students and parents. Student management systems, electronic transcripts, online admission portals, Hanoi.Study learning platforms and open learning materials warehouses have been deployed synchronously, creating a unified data network for the entire industry. Not only does this system help management become more transparent and accurate, it also brings practical benefits to learners and teachers.

In the plan to deploy the application of information technology, digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) in the education and training sector for the 2025-2026 school year of Phuc Thinh commune, the goals set out by the People's Committee of the commune are clear, such as: concretizing the strategic orientations on digital transformation of the Central and local governments, creating a strong change in awareness throughout the industry about the role of technology and data in educational innovation; synchronously deploying digital platforms and applying AI to automate processes, reduce administrative burdens, and help managers and teachers focus on their expertise.

In particular, the plan aims to create a modern and safe digital learning environment; equip students with digital capacity, creative thinking and necessary skills to become global citizens; establish a centralized educational database system, ensure all decisions are made based on quantitative analysis, enhance transparency and operational efficiency.

Mr. Dang Viet Ha, Head of the Department of Culture and Society of Phuc Thinh commune, shared that digital transformation in education is no longer an option, but an inevitable requirement to improve the quality of teaching and learning. When schools apply technology, from student management, electronic transcripts to online learning platforms, teaching and monitoring learning progress become more transparent and convenient. This not only helps teachers and students access modern methods, but also creates a basis for local authorities to monitor, support, and plan educational development strategies suitable for each school and each area.

Phuc Thinh Commune has reviewed, planned, and proposed an investment roadmap for each phase to supplement and synchronize smart teaching equipment; prioritized focused and key investments in digital infrastructure, especially for educational institutions selected to pilot the models of "Smart Classroom", "Digital Classroom", "Smart School", in order to create advanced examples, as a basis for expansion in the next phase.

“We will focus on developing unified and shared digital platforms such as: Building an electronic information portal for the commune education sector; synchronously deploying a school management platform and collaborative teaching through the use of the Google for Education toolkit; promoting digital transformation and AI application in teaching and learning activities; innovating testing and assessment based on smart technology and AI application; training and coaching on information technology application, digital transformation, AI application; piloting the "Google Digital Classroom" and "Smart School" models at a number of schools in the area...”, Mr. Dang Viet Ha shared.

Currently, 100% of general education institutions in Hanoi have deployed electronic transcripts, electronic grade books and school management software. The industry database system has been built and connected to the national population database, helping to look up, compile statistics and manage student and teacher records in a transparent, scientific, and time-saving way.

In primary school enrollment, the city has maintained a stable and orderly online enrollment system from kindergarten to high school, helping parents register quickly and conveniently, solving the problem of queuing to submit applications from midnight. Hanoi's online enrollment organization is supported and trusted by public opinion because of its transparency, fairness, safety and seriousness.

From 2022 to now, the Hanoi Department of Education has implemented many training programs to improve digital capacity for teachers, administrators and students; organized more than 600 training courses for nearly 100,000 teachers and administrators. The content focuses on topics such as using educational management software, designing E-learning lessons, organizing online classes, applying technology in assessing students' abilities, integrating artificial intelligence tools into teaching..., Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong shared.

Identifying digital transformation as not only a trend but also a mandatory foundation to improve the quality of education, the Hanoi Education sector has identified a number of key tasks including: Building Hanoi into a leading high-quality education center in the country; developing a synchronous and modern school network, especially high-quality schools, specialized schools, dual-degree and integrated schools; promoting STEM education, foreign languages, arts and sports; training students comprehensively, creatively and internationally integrated. Hanoi also focuses on solutions for comprehensive educational innovation, strongly applying technology such as artificial intelligence; developing digital science warehouses...
