What happened to Mount?

Mason Mount left Manchester United fans on edge when he left the pitch after halftime in their 1-0 victory over Newcastle in the 18th round of the Premier League on the morning of December 27th.

Mount had a problem and only played 45 minutes against Newcastle.

"He felt something was wrong at halftime. Mount wanted to continue playing, and that's a positive sign," the Portuguese coach shared. "But we can't risk any more injuries. When a player isn't 100% fit, substitutions are necessary. Jack Fletcher came on and did a great job."

The only goal of the match was scored in the 24th minute by Patrick Dorgu. The 21-year-old unleashed a spectacular volley, securing all three points for the Old Trafford side and marking his first goal for Manchester United.

In this match, Dorgu was surprisingly deployed on the right wing as MU were without both Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo. He admitted: "I shot instinctively and honestly didn't think I could do it. Scoring my first goal was a fantastic feeling."

The victory propelled MU to sixth place in the Premier League table, despite missing seven key players due to injury and African Cup of Nations duties. Notably, this was only the second time the "Red Devils" kept a clean sheet in the Premier League this season.

At Old Trafford, manager Amorim surprised everyone by abandoning his familiar three-centre-back system and switching to a four-defender formation.
