On the evening of May 7, Buriram United drew 0-0 with BG Pathum United in the second leg of the Southeast Asian Cup semi-finals, thereby winning against their national rivals with a total score of 3-1 after 2 matches to qualify for the final. Here, they will meet again with Vietnam's Cong An Ha Noi Club.
Buriram United are the old opponents of Hanoi Police Club in the group stage. In Group B, the reigning Thai League champions lost to coach Alexandre Polking's team with a score of 1-2. Phan Van Duc and Alan Grafite were the goalscorers for the Vietnamese representative.
However, at that time, Buriram Utd did not field the strongest squad, due to having to allocate forces to play in the AFC Champions League Elite and Thai League. After stopping in the continental quarter-finals, Buriram United now has the best personnel and promises to bring many challenges to the Hanoi Police Club in the Southeast Asian Cup final.
The first and second leg of the ASEAN Club Championship final will take place on May 14 and May 21, respectively. Hanoi Police Club will play the first leg at Hang Day Stadium.
The ASEAN Club Championship is a club-level tournament first organized by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) in 2003 and then organized once more in 2005. However, the tournament has not attracted attention due to lack of sponsorship and conflicts with the Asian Football Confederation's competition schedule.
This year, the AFF restarted the tournament with the participation of 12 clubs divided into 2 groups. The champion team can receive 575,000 USD (equivalent to about 15 billion VND), including the journey milestone bonus and the final match bonus.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has high hopes and also sends words of encouragement to the Hanoi Police Club, as it is the only bright spot of Vietnamese football in the international club arena at this time.

Hanoi Police Club keeps Quang Hai for the final match
To preserve the best force for the final series with Buriram United, Hanoi Police Club refused to let Nguyen Quang Hai join the ASEAN All Stars team to play Manchester United (May 28) in Malaysia. AFF and Coach Kim Sang Sik had to summon Nguyen Hai Long (Hanoi Club) to replace him.
