The Vietnamese labor market is witnessing clear shifts in the occupational structure, as the fields of engineering, technology and high-quality services are gradually becoming the target of recruiting businesses. The group of occupations with jobs right after graduation is mainly concentrated in the fields of industrial engineering, information technology, mechanics, electricity - electronics, logistics, high-tech agriculture , tourism - restaurants - hotels.

High demand for technical workers

According to the report of the Center for Human Resources Demand Forecasting and Labor Market Information of Ho Chi Minh City, as of the first quarter of 2025, the technical industry group accounts for more than 35% of the total recruitment demand of the market, especially the following occupations: mechanical engineering, industrial electricity, welding, CNC machine operation, automotive engineering and industrial electronics. These are occupations that require a lot of highly skilled workers, who can both work domestically and meet the high-quality labor export market to Japan, Korea, Germany, etc. The service, tourism - restaurant - hotel industry group is recovering strongly, leading to an increase in recruitment demand. Occupations such as tour guides, hotel management, food processing, beverage preparation, etc. have the ability to create jobs quickly, are easy to adapt, suitable for young workers and have a good development trend.

Along with the explosion of digital transformation and industry 4.0, the information technology industry continues to hold the top position in industries with high recruitment demand. Mr. Tham Van Huong, Director of SS4U Express Software Company Limited (Ho Chi Minh City), said that occupations such as software programming, network administration, graphic design, information security... are forecasted to be in need of human resources for at least the next 5-10 years. Not only technology companies but also manufacturing, trading and service enterprises need IT personnel to operate digital systems.

In addition, the high-tech agriculture and logistics sectors are also considered a “lowland” in terms of human resources but have great potential for development. The shortage of well-trained technical workers is becoming a “bottleneck” for many localities in developing specialized areas, agricultural export value chains and logistics services.

It is forecasted that in the period 2025-2030, the labor market will need a large workforce of skilled technical workers, especially in industries related to automated production, AI - robots, e-commerce, environmental technology and healthcare.

Practical training, learning to do

Phu Yen Vocational College is a trusted address for vocational training in the locality. With more than 20 years of establishment and development, the school has trained thousands of high-quality technical workers, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the province.

MSc. Nguyen Van Nhat, Vice Principal of the school said: “We focus on practical training, helping students master professional skills. Cooperating with reputable businesses, we coordinate to develop some training content (mainly practical). In addition, the school also regularly organizes career counseling sessions, connecting students with businesses to support them in finding suitable job opportunities.”

Enterprises in Phu Yen highly appreciate the training quality of vocational colleges in the area. Mr. Le Van Hong, Director of Ba Hai Joint Stock Company, specializing in seafood export, commented: “Currently, vocational training schools have close links with enterprises. Enterprises are invited to participate in training and practice programs to ensure that students not only learn theory but also practice and hone their skills so that when they graduate, they are not confused, and enterprises do not have to spend time and effort to retrain. After graduating from vocational schools, students have good practical skills, a professional working attitude and quickly adapt to the working environment.”

Not only did I have a stable job, I also developed my skills and accumulated valuable experience, and started my own company.”
