Real estate and banking stocks sold off heavily, VN-Index lost the 1,700 point mark

On October 20, the Vietnamese stock market was covered in red with more than 680 stocks losing points, including more than 100 stocks hitting the floor. Selling pressure increased sharply, especially in large-cap stocks, causing the indices to plummet. At the end of the session, the VN-Index fell 94.76 points to 1,636.43 points.

Market liquidity increased sharply compared to yesterday's session, with total trading volume on the three floors reaching more than 1,954 million shares, equivalent to a total trading value of more than VND58,576 billion.

Foreign investors continued to sell strongly on all three exchanges, with a net value of more than VND2,151 billion, focusing on stocks such as MSN (VND652.44 billion), CTG (VND269.1 billion), STB (VND221.51 billion), SSI (VND175.28 billion), HPG (VND158.9 billion)...

On the contrary, the codes that were net bought a lot in this session included VIX (122.09 billion VND), DIG (118.94 billion VND), VJC (113.52 billion VND), VRE (76.6 billion VND), VHM (73.67 billion VND)...

On the HoSE floor, the order matching value this session increased compared to the previous session, reaching more than VND 50,576 billion.

This session, codes that contributed positively to the VN-Index increasing by 0.48 points included: VTP, VAB, CTR, LGC, HT1, SVC, ASG, SRC, TDP, TIX.

On the contrary, the codes that negatively impacted the VN-Index, reducing 45.84 points, included: VIC, VHM, VCB, TCB, BID, CTG, VPB, HPG, MBB, VPL.

* At the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index closed at 263.02 points, down 13.09 points (-4.74%). Liquidity reached a total of more than 190.27 million shares transferred, with a corresponding trading value of more than VND4,558.76 billion. In the whole market, there were 28 stocks increasing in price, 38 stocks remaining unchanged and 142 stocks decreasing in price.

The HNX30 index closed down 44.95 points (-7.39%) to 563.19 points. Trading volume reached over 152.57 million units, equivalent to over VND4,096.19 billion. In the whole market, there were 3 stocks increasing in price, 1 stock remaining unchanged and 26 stocks decreasing in price.

On the UPCoM market, the UPCoM-Index closed at 110.31 points, down 2.36 points (-2.09%). Market liquidity, total trading volume reached over 63.56 million shares, corresponding trading value reached over VND 1,003.58 billion. In the whole market, there were 70 stocks increasing in price, 62 stocks remaining unchanged and 185 stocks decreasing in price.

* At the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index closed down 94.76 points (-5.47%) to 1,636.43 points. Liquidity reached over 1,706.76 million units, equivalent to a trading value of VND53,294.08 billion. The entire floor had 34 stocks increasing, 19 stocks remaining unchanged and 325 stocks decreasing.

The VN30 Index decreased by 106.28 points (-5.38%) and stopped at 1,870.86 points. Liquidity reached more than 919.19 million units, equivalent to a trading value of more than VND 30,551.04 billion. The VN30 group of stocks ended the trading day with 0 stocks increasing, 0 stocks remaining unchanged and 30 stocks decreasing.
