Before the good news of being called up to the ASEAN All-stars under the guidance of coach Kim Sang-sik, Irfan said he could not believe his ears when he received a call from the head of the Singapore team, Mr. Eric Ong.

"I received a call from Eric Ong telling me the good news that I was selected for the ASEAN All-stars team. I really couldn't believe my ears, because last season, I didn't play much due to constant injuries. I believe that with the luck of being called for the ASEAN All-stars, my happy spirit, excitement and effort will help me recover quickly from my injury to have the opportunity to face the Man United players" - Irfan said.

Irfan currently plays for Thai Port Club (Thailand), used to play as a striker like his father and wore the number 17 shirt but then switched to central defender until now. If he gets a chance to play, he can play with Duy Manh in the ASEAN All-stars defense.

Irfan, 27, is an Arsenal fan and has spent time training in Spain. He believes that playing against top teams like Manchester United will help Southeast Asian football progress.

During this Asian tour, Man United will play three matches in just six days against Aston Villa (May 25), ASEAN All-stars (May 28) and Hong Kong XI (May 30). The match against the Southeast Asian stars will take place in Malaysia.
