National Day Concert: Proud, radiant Vietnamese spirit

Perhaps never before have the big music festivals and 'national concerts' leading up to National Day, September 2, been as powerful, attractive and appealing to audiences, especially young audiences, as they are today.

Originating from the parade and march to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification, "national concert" is how young people call special programs inspired by the parade and march to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and reunification of the country.

The scene of audiences lining up to receive tickets for Fatherland in the Heart or hunting for tickets for 8Wonder, V Concert... shows that the appeal of music and art events celebrating the founding of the country has gone beyond a normal entertainment event.

Many big concerts celebrate National Day

This August, there are four major music programs taking place in Hanoi to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

They are V Concert - Radiant Vietnam (August 9 evening) and V Fest - Glorious Youth (August 10) organized by Vietnam Television (VTV); "national concert" Fatherland in the heart (August 10) organized by Nhan Dan newspaper and Hanoi People's Committee and 8Wonder international music festival with the theme Moments of Wonder (August 23) organized by VinWonders.

If V Concert has the participation of Ha Anh Tuan, Den, Noo Phuoc Thinh, Ho Ngoc Ha, Truc Nhan, Toc Tien, Hoang Thuy Linh, Hoa Minzy, Phuong My Chi, Quang Hung MasterD, Rhyder... then V Fest gathers BinZ, Bich Phuong, Isaac, Rhymastic, Truc Nhan, HieuThuHai, Trang Phap, Van Mai Huong, (S) TRONG Trong Hieu, Mono.

At 8Wonder , in addition to two prominent V-pop artists, Soobin and Hoa Minzy, the event featured prominent stars of contemporary music from all five continents: DJ Snake (Europe), J Balvin (America), Kid LAROI (Australia), DPR IAN (Asia).

All three events took place at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (Dong Anh), one of the top 10 largest exhibition center complexes in the world and the largest in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, the program "Fatherland in the Heart" was held at My Dinh Stadium with the participation of artists Thu Huyen, Dang Duong, Pham Thu Ha, Tung Duong, Vo Ha Tram, Ha Le, Noo Phuoc Thinh, Toc Tien, Thanh Duy, Suboi, Dong Hung, Oplus Band...

Organizers participate in the chain of cultural and entertainment creation, contributing to the development of cultural and entertainment activities, creating an ecosystem with the market, public, and reputation for artists and performance companies.

Shifting towards cultural industry

Previously, art programs with a political, propaganda or holiday-celebrating tendency were often outside and parallel to entertainment-oriented events.

However, the above national concerts and music festivals show a shift in the thinking of event organization of both public and private organizers and producers.

The above national concerts and music festivals are invested in a professional, modern and innovative way in terms of scale, stage and script. The line-up shows the continuity of generations, besides the famous artists, there is the "joining" of the young artists, the most prominent of V-pop today, close to young audiences.

The program not only demonstrates the core values, solemnity, and necessary stature of events celebrating major national holidays, but also is entertaining, accessible to young audiences, and arouses patriotism and national pride from this young audience.

8Wonder representative said that this special music festival "is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day, while affirming Vietnam's position as the leading festival and entertainment destination in the region". There, people connect through captivating melodies, eye-catching performances and sublime emotions.

Mr. Do Thanh Hai, deputy general director of VTV, told Tuoi Tre that the station's two big music festivals in August showed that the unit "wants to change, wants to renew itself, especially wants to get closer to young audiences and the general public."

He said the events showed the professional development trend of the domestic entertainment and cultural industry.

Mr. Hai cited the V Concert stage with an area of nearly 2,000m², covered by a 1,500m² LED screen system. The program brings together many beloved artists, representing the new spirit and new energy of contemporary Vietnamese music.

According to Mr. Do Thanh Hai, through these events, audiences will have more information, more opportunities to access and introduce to the public performance models and creative cultural forms both domestically and internationally.

After the two shows Anh trai say hi and Anh trai vu ngan cong gai , Vietnam's young entertainment industry began to have a young audience with a culture of going to concerts/music festivals.

The above music nights will record new achievements for the industry with real figures and effects: V Concert - Radiant Vietnam and V Fest - Glorious Youth (about 25,000 audiences/event), Fatherland in the Heart (50,000 people). The 8Wonder Music Festival has not announced the number of audiences, but according to the representative of the organizing committee, the event took place at the Vietnam Exhibition Center on an unprecedented scale.

Previously, 8Wonders attracted a steady increase in audience numbers over the years, from 8,000 to 25,000 people.

Proud of Vietnam

Whether produced by public or private producers, the overarching spirit in national concerts and music festivals is the spirit of Vietnamese pride.

Speaking at a recent press conference, Mr. Le Quoc Minh - editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan newspaper - shared that the program "Fatherland in the Heart " "wants to carry out a program covered in red from the stage to the stands".

The performance space is arranged in a V-shape, 26m high, as a vivid declaration of love and pride of every Vietnamese child for their homeland.

The stage is divided into four areas with meaningful messages: Independence, Freedom, Happiness, Red flag with yellow star.

Also at this event, the entrance ticket was designed as a souvenir with a handwritten copy of the song Tien Quan Ca and about 50,000 spectators sang together the famous song by musician Van Cao, which is also the national anthem of Vietnam.

In particular, there will be a parade of 68 soldiers who represented the Vietnam People's Army in the Victory Day parade at Red Square (Russia) and athletes Quang Hai, Anh Vien, Le Van Cong and many other sports figures who have brought glory to the Fatherland in international arenas.

At the 8Wonder concert, inspired by the heroic national festival, the ticket categories have meaningful names such as Independence, Freedom, Pride, Aspiration, Extraordinary, Miracle, and Happiness. Similarly, at V Concert , the ticket categories also carry the spirit of solidarity and pride in Vietnam such as Sharing, Connecting, Aspiration, Love, Pride, and Happiness.

Mr. Do Thanh Hai believes that the radiant spirit of Vietnam comes from many ways. The enthusiasm, connection, and sharing of young people in a musical space is also a way. From there, people connect together to create a certain beauty of the cultural space, here is the contemporary, integrated and developed Vietnamese culture.

8Wonder representative added that with the name Moments of Wonder , the event is not only a grand music party but also an opportunity to honor the strong Vietnamese spirit and aspiration to reach far.

Inspired by the nation's proud historical journey, the concert also symbolizes Vietnam's cultural aspirations in the new era.

"This is the next chapter in the journey to build a leading regional entertainment festival brand created by Vietnam, an event that contributes to shaping contemporary identity and affirming the country's position on the world music map," said the representative.

In addition to some familiar locations such as My Dinh Stadium, My Dinh Athletics Palace, Yen So Park, Ocean Park 3..., now Hanoi or near Hanoi has another suitable location to organize large entertainment events: Vietnam Exhibition Center.

This complex is gradually being positioned as a symbol of Vietnam's spirit of innovation, development and aspiration to rise in the new era.
