Subjects at Ben Cau District Police.

The five defendants prosecuted include: Huynh Van Nam, 34 years old, residing in Thap Muoi district, Dong Thap province; Ngo Thanh Xuan (Minh Nheo), 45 years old; Cao Anh Kiet (Quay), 24 years old; Tran Minh Le (Bui), 29 years old and Nguyen Van Phan (Than), 42 years old - all residing in Tien Thuan commune, Ben Cau district for smuggling.

Previously, through the work of grasping the area, Ben Cau District Police discovered a network of smuggling agricultural and industrial machinery and made a plan to fight and eradicate it. After understanding the rules of operation of each subject in the network, on April 14, the District Police mobilized forces and divided them into 3 working groups to block the border routes.

At 3:00 p.m. the same day, the police discovered Le delivering a combine harvester to a car with license plate 66H-020.95 to Nam in Tien Thuan commune, so they caught him red-handed and simultaneously arrested the related subjects. The police seized 2 combine harvesters; 1 tractor with trailer, 1 specialized truck.

Initial investigation results show that, taking advantage of the fact that people living in the border area (Cambodia - Vietnam) go back and forth to cultivate agriculture , the above 5 subjects colluded with Tran Hoang Hau (Hao), 34 years old, residing in Truong Xuan commune, Thap Muoi district, Dong Thap province to smuggle industrial and agricultural machinery from Cambodia to Tay Ninh province (Vietnam) and bring it to the western provinces for consumption.

Police seized evidence.

Xuan and Hau were tasked with going to Cambodia to buy industrial and agricultural machines such as tractors and combine harvesters at cheap prices and then gathering them at the homes of acquaintances in the neighboring country. Then Xuan hired Phan, Le, and Kiet to personally go and receive the machines and bring them to Ben Cau district for a salary of 5 million VND/unit.

When the machines arrived at Ben Cau district, Hau hired Nam from Dong Thap province to pick up the machines and bring them to the West for sale. By the time he was arrested, this smuggling ring had transported 16 agricultural and industrial machines to Vietnam for sale, with an estimated value of 2 billion VND.

Currently, the Ben Cau District Police are continuing to investigate the case and arrest the suspect Tran Hoang Hau, who is currently on the run.
