The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has just released a climate trend forecast for the next 1-month period (from June 21 to July 20, 2025).

Accordingly, the average temperature in the Northern and North Central regions is generally approximately the same as the average of many years (TBNN), the remaining regions are 0.5-1 degrees higher than the same period.

Notably, this is a period of heavy rain in the North and North Central regions. In particular, total rainfall in these areas is generally 15-30% higher than the average for the same period; other areas are generally 10-20% lower than the average.

“The Northern and North Central regions may experience some widespread heavy rains. The Central Highlands and the South will continue to have many days of thunderstorms, with rain concentrated in the late afternoon and evening,” the meteorological agency said.

At the same time, the meteorological agency also forecasts that during this period, the number of storms/tropical depressions in the East Sea is likely to be at the same level as the average and may affect our mainland (average in the East Sea: 1.4 storms, landfall: 0.7 storms).

Regarding heat waves, although they continue to occur in the Northern and Central regions, according to experts, the intensity is not as severe as in the same period in 2024.

Many risks of extreme natural disasters at the end of the year

Looking further ahead, in the second half of the year (from July to December 2025), the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that there will be many extreme weather phenomena, requiring special attention in the Central region, Central Highlands and Mekong Delta.

Deputy Director Hoang Phuc Lam said that from July to September, our country will still be affected by dangerous weather patterns such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail and especially storms.

The number of storms in the East Sea and their impact on our mainland is forecast to be approximately average (about 6-7 storms at sea, 2-3 storms making landfall).

Heavy rain will occur frequently in the North, North Central, Central Highlands and South.

In the period from October to December 2025, Mr. Lam said, cold air will start to become stronger, especially from November onwards. Storms and tropical depressions can still appear in the East Sea with 4-5 storms, affecting the Central and Southern regions.

This time is also the main flood season in the Central region, need to be on guard against 2-4 major floods, especially in the provinces from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai and from Binh Dinh to Binh Thuan .

Total rainfall in the Central and South Central regions and the Central Highlands is forecast to be 10-25% higher than average in October and November.

The meteorological agency warns that extreme weather events continue to occur nationwide. Authorities and people need to closely monitor weather and hydrological forecasts and proactively develop timely response plans to minimize damage during the upcoming storm season.
