Union supports shelter for 2 union members in Gia Lam district

Chairman of the Hanoi City Labor Federation Pham Quang Thanh visited and presented support to union member Nguyen Thi Thanh (Trade Union of Stanley Vietnam Electric Company Limited) and union member Hoang Thi Ngoan (Trade Union of Gia Lam Urban and Environment Joint Stock Company), each union member received 40 million VND to build a "Trade Union Shelter".

Previously, through a survey of grassroots trade unions, union members Nguyen Thi Thanh and Hoang Thi Ngoan had difficult housing circumstances.

Union member Nguyen Thi Thanh lives in a level 4 house that has been built for many years and is seriously degraded. The walls are peeling, cracked, moldy, damp, and the roof is leaky. She is currently taking care of her elderly mother alone, and has no pension. Her salary of 9 million VND/month is not enough to cover the living expenses of the two of them, so she cannot afford to repair the house.

Union member Hoang Thi Ngoan lost her husband in a traffic accident, and she alone has to raise two children. With an income of 7 million VND/month, Ms. Ngoan has to save as much as possible to cover the living expenses of the three of them, so her dream of building a decent house has not been realized.

Understanding the difficult circumstances of union members, the grassroots unions have proposed that the higher-level unions support the construction of “Union Shelters”, helping union members have more motivation to build a spacious and solid house for their families. Up to now, 2 “Union Shelters” of two union members Nguyen Thi Thanh and Hoang Thi Ngoan have been completed.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Hanoi Labor Federation Pham Quang Thanh congratulated the union members on having a new, spacious house to stabilize their lives; at the same time, he hoped that the union members would continue to strive to improve their lives, stick with and contribute to the common development of the enterprise and take good care of their families.

The leaders of the City Labor Federation sincerely thank the leaders of enterprises for accompanying the Trade Union organization to take care of union members and workers; hope that in the coming time, enterprises will continue to have many practical activities to ensure the lives, jobs, and welfare regimes for workers.

For the Gia Lam District Trade Union at all levels, Mr. Pham Quang Thanh suggested that it is necessary to continue to review and grasp the situation of union members and workers to promptly care for and support union members and workers to stabilize their lives and work with peace of mind.

On this occasion, in addition to the support of the Hanoi City Labor Federation, the Gia Lam District Labor Federation awarded each union member 20 million VND; the enterprise also had practical gifts for the workers.
