Government promotes data creation to serve digital transformation

The Government has just issued Resolution No. 214/NQ-CP to promote data creation for comprehensive digital transformation. The goal of the plan is to build a system architecture and a shared platform connecting the entire political system from the central to local levels, ensuring connectivity and synchronous data sharing between agencies.

The plan also requires reviewing and standardizing 100% of national and specialized databases to effectively serve administrative operations, reform administrative procedures and improve the quality of online public services.

To complete the institution, the Ministry of Public Security is assigned to preside over the development of the overall National Data Architecture and Data Governance Framework, along with legal documents regulating mandatory data sharing among agencies. At the same time, ministries and sectors need to review the law to recognize the legal value of electronic data.

The Government prioritizes focusing on completing 11 key national databases such as land, finance, education, health, civil status... Localities are also required to standardize data on a unified digital platform, serving administrative reform and state management.

Regarding infrastructure, the Ministry of Science and Technology will take the lead in building the National Digital Architecture Framework, ensuring connectivity between agencies. The dedicated data transmission network will be upgraded to a centralized, modern, and highly secure model.

Finally, the Government agreed to establish a National Steering Committee on Data, headed by the Prime Minister, to supervise and coordinate all activities of building and exploiting data at the National Data Center.

KOLs will have a "common home" to spread positive information

At the seminar “Building Digital Trust” organized by the National Cyber Security Association on July 28, experts said that Vietnam will establish the Vietnam KOL Alliance in August. This alliance aims to bring together people with positive influence on social networks to spread official information, fight against misinformation and promote digital safety skills.

A representative of Department A05 (Ministry of Public Security) emphasized that KOL/KOC is not only a marketing tool but also a symbol of “soft power” in modern society. However, the current legal framework has not kept up with the pace of development, and sanctions are still light and lack deterrence.

In addition to the alliance, a program to promote responsible KOL influence will also be implemented, with community rules that promote transparency and self-control of content.

Viettel Chairman Tao Duc Thang promoted to Lieutenant General

The Ministry of National Defense has just promoted Mr. Tao Duc Thang, Chairman of Viettel Group, to the rank of Lieutenant General. Not only is he a senior leader, Mr. Thang also plays an important role in orienting Viettel to become a pioneer in developing strategic technology.

Under his leadership, Viettel focuses on investing in cutting-edge technology areas such as AI, semiconductors, Vietnamese language modeling, 5G, 6G networks and autonomous ecosystems. The group aims to produce chips, commercialize 5G-Advanced devices by 2027 and test 6G devices in the 2028–2030 period.

Mr. Thang also proposed many special policies to attract high-tech experts, promote innovation and develop Vietnam's deep-tech industry.

Tesla orders AI chips from Samsung in multi-year deal

Samsung has just signed a $16.5 billion contract with Tesla to produce semiconductor chips from now until the end of 2033, marking a major step forward in the group's efforts to revive its struggling foundry (chip manufacturing) segment.

Samsung will produce advanced AI chips for Tesla, used in self-driving computer systems in electric vehicles. These chips will process data from sensors, cameras, radars...

The multi-year deal will provide Samsung with a new generation of chips, expected to use advanced 2-nanometer manufacturing technology. The deal could help Samsung grow its foundry revenue by about 10 percent a year, analysts say.

The deal with Tesla is seen as a positive sign for Samsung's upcoming technological capabilities, especially in the context of the company's efforts to compete with market leader TSMC - a chip manufacturer with a global market share of up to 67.6%, while Samsung only holds 7.7%.
