Soc Trang Power Company organizes disaster prevention and control and search and rescue drills in 2025

The drill was attended by representatives of local authorities, the PCTT&TKCN Command Board, specialized departments and shock forces from affiliated Power Companies, along with the coordination of functional units in the area.

Dramatic hypothetical situation: According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a strong storm of level 11, gusting to level 14, suddenly made landfall in the Southern region, directly affecting My Tu district at 2:30 a.m. on June 12. Strong winds, thunder, and tornadoes caused severe damage to the power system, especially in My Huong commune - the focal point of the drill.

A series of incidents were simulated realistically: 192 vertical porcelain and porcelain rods were broken; 15 lightning arresters were severely damaged; 72 wire stoppers were broken from pole 475-477MT/01 to 475-477MT/36, causing a large-scale power outage in My Huong commune.

As soon as the storm "passed", at 6:30 a.m., the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the Power Companies, the Soc Trang Labor Management Team and the Soc Trang Labor Enterprise arrived at the scene to inspect the damage after the storm and reported to the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the company. According to the preliminary reports of the units, there were some damages but they were not large and could be self-repaired; My Tu Power Company suffered the most damage, causing a power outage in My Huong commune, My Tu district, Soc Trang province. Currently, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of My Tu Power Company is mobilizing shock troops to inspect and count the damage to handle and restore power as soon as possible and needs support from other units.

Upon receiving the report, the Head of the Company's PCTT & TKCN Command Board requested units to increase support forces for the shift to quickly fix the problem to restore power and communication systems, prioritizing the areas with the most damage.

The exercise content is not only theoretical, the entire force is directly trained through specific tasks such as: replacing 192 vertical porcelain and porcelain rods; replacing 15 lightning arresters, installing LA grounding system; handling 72 broken wire harnesses.

The purpose of the 2025 PCTT&TKCN drill of Soc Trang Power Company is not only an annual activity, but also an opportunity to comprehensively inspect and evaluate the ability to prepare, organize response and overcome the consequences of natural disasters when a situation occurs.

Through the drill, the company aims at specific goals: Improving the command and management capacity of the PCTT&TKCN Command Committees at all levels; training shock troops to master the response process, handle incidents quickly - neatly - effectively in harsh natural disaster environments; enhancing the ability to coordinate between units, especially in situations where it is necessary to mobilize human resources, materials, and equipment from friendly units; training reflexes and action procedures for each participating member - from commanders to frontline forces - to grasp the sequence of handling incidents, both during drills and when actual combat occurs; closely coordinating with local authorities and support forces, ensuring that overcoming the consequences of natural disasters takes place quickly, safely and effectively.

At the end of the drill, the Deputy Head of the PCTT&TKCN Command Board of the company, along with members of the Command Board and representatives of participating units held a meeting to summarize, evaluate and draw lessons. Thereby, the proactive spirit and effective coordination between units were recognized; the style of implementation was quick, accurate and in accordance with procedures; some points that needed to be overcome were pointed out to perfect the response plan in future practical deployments.
