Source Music recently filed a lawsuit against CEO Min Hee Jib at the Seoul Western District Court, demanding 500 million won (about 9.2 billion VND) in damages for defamation, business interruption, and insult.
Source Music pointed out 3 main problems in Min Hee Jin's recent statements:
1. Min Hee Jin claimed that she was the one who directly selected the NewJeans members.
2. HYBE unilaterally broke their promise to debut NewJeans as the group's first girl group.
3. Min Hee Jin accused Source Music of neglecting NewJeans members.
Source Music stated that Min Hee Jin's statements at the press conference on April 25 caused rumors about LE SSERAFIM being a "specially favored girl group that caused damage to other groups," leading to the group suffering from serious malicious comments.
Source Music has gathered evidence against Min Hee Jin's claims and submitted it along with the lawsuit, sources said.
Not only Source Music, but also ILLIT's management company - Belif Lab has denied the accusation that ILLIT plagiarized NewJeans made by CEO Min Hee Jin last month, suing Min Hee Jin for obstruction of business and defamation.
On July 9, the first whistleblower investigation of CEO Min Hee Jin was launched. On April 26, HYBE filed a complaint with the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, requesting an investigation into CEO Min for alleged breach of trust.
HYBE said, “We have confirmed the specific fact that the plan to take over ADOR’s management was established under the direction of CEO Min Hee Jin.” Min Hee Jin went to Yongsan Police Station on July 9 for questioning for more than 8 hours.
