Lottery company reports big profits, pays out thousands of billions of dong in prizes

(Dan Tri) - A series of lottery companies recorded revenue and profit growth in the first half of the year. The cost of paying out prizes also increased, reaching thousands of billions of VND.

Revenue of most lottery companies grows

According to statistics from Dan Tri reporters from semi-annual reports of lottery companies, most traditional lottery companies recorded revenue growth in the first half of this year.

Leading the group of traditional lottery companies is Ho Chi Minh City Lottery One Member Co., Ltd. with revenue in the first half of the year reaching 7,027 billion VND, an increase of nearly 11% over the same period in 2024 .

In fact, Ho Chi Minh City Lottery has maintained its leading position in the industry for 12 consecutive years. However, according to the plan, after Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau merge into Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong Lottery and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Lottery will soon be handed over to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for management.

Lottery companies in Binh Phuoc have strong double-digit growth, with revenue reaching VND2,630 billion, up 11.77% over the same period.

In terms of revenue scale before the merger, some units recorded revenue of over 3,000 billion VND, with a growth rate compared to the same period of about 9-9.7%.

The units include Tra Vinh Lottery, Tien Giang Lottery, Long An Lottery, Binh Duong Lottery, Tay Ninh Lottery, Dong Nai Lottery, Ca Mau Lottery, Ben Tre Lottery, An Giang Lottery...

Along with the "huge" revenue is the profit of hundreds of billions of dong. Most lottery businesses recorded positive growth in the first quarter of the year.

Of which, Long An Lottery leads in growth rate with a profit of 632 billion VND, 190.4 billion VND higher than the same period, equivalent to an increase of 43.1%; Tay Ninh Lottery also increased by 37.1% compared to 435.9 billion VND last year. Other localities with double-digit growth include Dong Nai Lottery with an increase of 15.6%, Binh Phuoc Lottery with an increase of 15.3%, Ca Mau Lottery with an increase of 11.5%...  

Some localities also had a slight increase or almost flat but still at over 400 billion VND such as Ben Tre Lottery 431.4 billion VND, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Lottery 421.3 billion VND...

On the other hand, there are still markets that are declining. Ho Chi Minh City Lottery - the lottery business unit with the highest profit in the country - decreased from 983.6 billion VND to 969.6 billion VND, equivalent to 1.4%...

Lottery companies spend thousands of billions of dong paying out prizes

Data from financial reports show that the prize payout costs of most lottery companies in the first 6 months of the year increased compared to the same period in 2024, commonly at over 1,000 billion VND, accounting for about 60% of total revenue. The above figure does not include Ho Chi Minh City Lottery and Soc Trang Lottery because these two units did not clearly explain the prize payout costs this period.

The lottery unit paying the most prizes is Tra Vinh with 1,765 billion VND. It is followed by Vinh Long lottery, Binh Duong lottery, Kien Giang lottery, An Giang lottery, Dong Nai lottery, Ben Tre lottery, Bac Lieu lottery and Can Tho lottery. Lottery units in these provinces all recorded prize payment costs of over 1,700 billion VND in the first half of the year.

Many localities recorded double-digit increases, including Binh Phuoc Lottery, which recorded the strongest increase, reaching VND 1,445.9 billion, VND 153.3 billion higher than the same period, equivalent to an increase of 11.86%; Tien Giang Lottery increased by 11.04%, Tra Vinh Lottery increased by 10.87%; An Giang Lottery increased by 10%...

Although the increase in other localities was lower, it was still significant, fluctuating around 5-9%, showing that the general trend is still positive growth in bonus expenses.
