Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong chaired the meeting.

On the afternoon of December 14, continuing the 28th session, the National Assembly Standing Committee reviewed the National Assembly's report on people's petitions in October and November 2023.

Presenting the report, Head of the Petition Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee Duong Thanh Binh said that voters and people trust the Party's leadership and policies, the State's management, the effective and efficient operations of the National Assembly and the resolute management of the Government and the Prime Minister. Many solutions to promote economic development, stabilize and improve people's lives have been actively implemented, such as: Reducing lending interest rates, stabilizing the foreign exchange market; promoting disbursement of public investment capital; implementing credit packages to support industries and sectors; exempting, reducing and extending taxes, fees, land use fees, supporting businesses; extending visas for tourists; social security work has been given attention...

Voters and people have paid close attention to and followed the foreign affairs activities of our Party and State leaders in recent times; the official visits to Vietnam by a number of heads of state, parliament chairmen, and prime ministers of a number of countries, especially the state visit of the General Secretary and President of the People's Republic of China. These visits have contributed to consolidating and developing the good relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive, sustainable, and long-term cooperation between Vietnam and friendly countries. At the same time, voters believe that these diplomatic activities will open up many opportunities for cooperation, contribute to the country's economic development, and continue to affirm Vietnam's position and role in the international arena.

In addition to the achieved results, voters and people continue to express concerns about the flood situation in the Central provinces; the climate change situation causing landslides, coastal erosion, and erosion, affecting people's lives and livelihoods; the abnormal fluctuations in the gold market affecting people's psychology; the world economic situation with many fluctuations leading to many difficulties in agricultural production...

Head of the People's Petitions Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee Duong Thanh Binh presented the report.

Voters and people expressed their indignation about the moral degradation in schools; the fact that in the curriculum of primary school students, there is a situation where schools include subjects voluntarily registered for joint teaching programs into the main curriculum and collect fees. Voters believe that this is a form of "extra teaching - extra learning", and there needs to be a drastic solution to rectify it.

From there, the People's Petition Committee under the National Assembly Standing Committee requested the Government and the Prime Minister to pay attention to directing the Ministry of Education and Training to consider and review the situation of schools including voluntarily registered subjects of the joint teaching program into regular teaching and collecting fees, and take appropriate adjustment measures; direct the inspection and strict handling of cases of school violence and insulting teachers, and have effective solutions to overcome the situation of moral degradation in schools as well as end the current problem of school violence.

After the National Assembly Standing Committee discussed and concluded the discussion content, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong said that the National Assembly Standing Committee basically agreed with the report on the National Assembly's public petition work in October and November 2023.

The National Assembly Standing Committee highly appreciated the Petition Committee for urging units to synthesize and compile statistics to ensure the contents of the report, and at the same time urging agencies to handle petitions from voters and people. Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong requested the Petition Committee to study and absorb the opinions of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the explanations and supplementary reports of the agencies; and coordinate with the Secretary General of the National Assembly to issue conclusions in accordance with regulations.
