• Honoring the value of Ca Mau crab products
  • Strengthening cooperation in the Ca Mau crab value chain
  • Opening of the exhibition of delicious dishes from Ca Mau crab combined with specialties of 34 provinces and cities

In addition to promoting and enhancing the brand of famous specialties, through the Festival, Ca Mau affirms its sustainable direction: ecological agriculture and green future.

Ca Mau is blessed with the largest mangrove forest area in Vietnam. The daily ebb and flow of water, the rivers embracing the old forest, create an ideal environment for crabs to grow. Thanks to that, Ca Mau crabs have firm, sweet meat and a natural richness that is hard to find anywhere else. For generations, crabs have become a symbol of this salty land, the pride of people living between the forest and the sea.

This is not only a specialty, but also a great contribution to people's livelihoods, local agriculture and the development of the southernmost land.

The Ca Mau Crab brand is not only a source of pride for its specialty, but also for its industry that contributes greatly to people's livelihoods, the agricultural economy and the development of the southernmost region of the country.

Building a modern and sustainable crab industry

To achieve its current position, "Ca Mau Crab" has undergone a long journey of positioning, associated with changes in farming thinking and sustainable economic practices. In addition to natural advantages, the province has made efforts to transform farming models towards environmental friendliness, focusing on quality management and applying new techniques.

The brand "Ca Mau Crab" is known to domestic and foreign consumers, this is a great advantage in building the value chain of local specialty products.

In the past, people raised crabs mainly following the traditional practice of releasing the seeds into the pond and leaving them to nature, but now they are used to applying safe biological farming processes, choosing good seeds, with effective models such as: improved extensive farming, semi-intensive farming, and raising crabs in boxes. Training courses and technical guidance sessions are held continuously, helping people to be more confident and proactive in production.

At the same time, Ca Mau promotes cooperation with institutes and universities to select and create healthy parent crabs that adapt well to climate change - an increasingly important factor when the natural environment is changing rapidly. Focusing on developing a synchronous value chain, connecting farmers - cooperatives - enterprises, thereby stabilizing the consumption of commercial crabs, clearly controlling the quality of products, contributing to increasing the economic value of the industry.

Ca Mau crab has firm, sweet meat and a natural richness that is hard to find anywhere else.

The brand “Ca Mau Crab” is built in a modern direction, associated with electronic traceability, VietGAP, organic and ecological standards. Trade promotion and advertising activities at home and abroad are strengthened, helping Ca Mau crab to reach further, approaching many potential markets.

" Ca Mau aims to build an ecological, modern and sustainable crab industry. The goal is not only to create added value and contribute to GRDP growth, but also to make "Ca Mau Crab" a symbol of Vietnam's ecological agriculture. This is a long-term direction, suitable for the province's natural conditions as well as the world's trend of clean and safe consumption," said Mr. Pham Van Muoi, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment.

Affirming the position of "Crab Capital"

Besides the achievements, the crab industry faces many difficulties: natural seed sources are decreasing, farming scale is still small, and the consumption market is unstable at some times.

The brand "Ca Mau Crab" is built in a modern direction, associated with electronic traceability, VietGAP standards, organic and ecological.

To overcome difficulties and firmly pursue the goal of developing green, clean and sustainable agriculture, the province has implemented many programs to support people, from guiding safe biological farming to expanding farming areas that meet VietGAP and organic standards. Enterprises are encouraged to invest in deep processing to increase value, creating new products such as soft-shell crabs, seasoned crabs, frozen crab meat, etc. to meet modern market needs.

According to Mr. Pham Van Muoi, by 2030, Ca Mau hopes to build a crab value chain that meets international standards, in which at least 70% of output is consumed through sustainable linkage models. The province also aims to promote official exports to major markets such as China, Japan, South Korea and Europe.

Ca Mau identifies crab as one of the key products of the agricultural sector, associated with the orientation of developing ecological agricultural economy, adapting to climate change.

"With the support of people, businesses and professional agencies, we believe that "Ca Mau Crab" will become a strong Vietnamese brand on the world seafood map," Mr. Pham Van Muoi believes.

That expectation is based on the firm belief in the efforts, labor and creativity of the people of Dat Mui, who have devoted their whole lives to shrimp and crab farming, and to the endless green forests.

From the mangrove forests of Dat Mui, Ca Mau crabs have gone beyond local borders and become a national brand. Promoting that great value, Ca Mau is gradually building an ecological agriculture, modern countryside and prosperous people. The 2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival in 2025 is an affirmation of the green development direction that the province is determined to pursue.
