Providing updated online administrative maps of 34 provincial administrative units

The Department of Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information of Vietnam has developed an administrative map of Vietnam that accurately represents administrative units according to the new arrangement plan; updating changes in administrative boundaries.

The National Assembly passed a Resolution of the National Assembly on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units in 2025.

According to Ms. Do Thi Thu Thuy, Deputy Chief of Office of the Department of Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information of Vietnam ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ), when the Resolution of the National Assembly on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units in 2025 takes effect, the Department will complete the construction and provide the 1: 1,000,000 scale administrative map of Vietnam online via the network environment and digital maps in *.pdf format to promptly serve the direction and administration of the Prime Minister, the state management of ministries, branches, localities and meet the requirements of organizations and individuals.

Ministries, branches, localities, organizations and individuals can access the website https://vnsdi.monre.gov.vn/home of the Geospatial Data Infrastructure Center to look up necessary information.

On the morning of June 12, with 461/465 delegates participating in the vote in favor (accounting for 96.44% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), the National Assembly voted to pass the Resolution on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units in 2025.

The country has 34 provincial-level administrative units, including 28 provinces and 6 cities. The Resolution takes effect from the date of its approval by the National Assembly.

From the effective date of this Resolution, the country has 34 provincial-level administrative units, including 28 provinces and 6 cities; of which 19 provinces and 4 cities were formed after the arrangement stipulated in this Resolution and 11 provinces and cities that did not implement the arrangement are: Cao Bang, Dien Bien, Ha Tinh, Lai Chau, Lang Son, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Son La and Hanoi city, Hue city.

52 provinces and cities are being reorganized into 23 new provincial-level administrative units named: Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Can Tho, Vinh Long, Dong Thap, Ca Mau, An Giang.

Sharing with reporters about the adjustment of administrative map data when reorganizing administrative units at all levels and building a two-level local government model, Ms. Do Thi Thu Thuy said that from the beginning of 2025 until now, implementing Conclusion No. 127-KL/TW dated February 28, 2025 of the Politburo and the Secretariat on the arrangement of administrative units according to two-level government, implementing the direction of the leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information of Vietnam has prepared map documents to serve important meetings of the Politburo, the Central Executive Committee of the Party, the National Assembly, the Government, the Ministry of Home Affairs, etc.

The Department has developed the Vietnam Administrative Map, ensuring accurate and complete representation of administrative units according to the new arrangement plan; focusing on updating changes in administrative boundaries, standardizing the symbol system, encoding spatial data according to national standards, ensuring the accuracy, consistency and legality of each map./.
