Phong Dien District Veterans Emulate Exemplary Performance

Model of "National Flag Road" of the Association of War Veterans of Giai Xuan commune.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the Association of War Veterans of Giai Xuan commune has just implemented the model of "National Flag Road" 1,200m long, in Thoi An B hamlet. The total cost of the project is 20 million VND, contributed by the Association of War Veterans of the commune mobilizing members of War Veterans and people. The Association of War Veterans of Thoi An B hamlet organized an environmental sanitation campaign, mobilizing people to keep the landscape green - clean - beautiful, not to buy and sell on the roadside, sidewalk... Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the Association of War Veterans of Giai Xuan commune, said: "Every year, the Association of War Veterans of the commune carries out 2-3 traffic construction projects, green - clean - beautiful landscape... Members and people in the hamlets actively contribute money, working days, and donate land to build the projects".

In order to specify the emulation movement "Exemplary War Veterans" in 2025, the War Veterans Association at all levels in Phong Dien district has deployed the construction of a model of skillful mass mobilization. Up to now, the War Veterans Association at all levels has registered 10 models, such as: building and repairing houses of Comradeship, upgrading roads, launching "Bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe routes"... At the same time, the War Veterans Association of the district directed the grassroots War Veterans Associations to maintain and implement well the models launched by the War Veterans Association of Can Tho City such as: Bringing pictures of Uncle Ho and General Vo Nguyen Giap to hang solemnly in the house; The War Veterans Team voluntarily participates in propaganda to maintain traffic safety and urban order; "6 no" Club...

According to Mr. Le Minh Phung, Vice Chairman of the Phong Dien District War Veterans Association, the Phong Dien District War Veterans Association at all levels coordinated with the Party Committee, government, and organizations to mobilize war veteran members and people to actively respond to the Campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods"; participate in environmental protection activities, fight against plastic waste, plant trees and flowers on the roads; protect water resources... The district's war veteran cadres and members are exemplary and actively participate in mobilizing young people to volunteer to perform military service, promote the building of national defense, and the movement of All People Protecting National Security.

The Standing Committee of the Phong Dien District Veterans Association always thoroughly grasps and sets out plans to implement Directive No. 05-CT/TW dated June 23, 2021 of the Secretariat "On strengthening the Party's leadership in sustainable poverty reduction by 2030". In particular, the District Veterans Association at all levels always pays attention to directing and mobilizing internal capital sources and loans from the Bank for Social Policies to help members develop their family economy. Up to now, the District Veterans Association has managed 45 savings and loan groups, with 2,030 households borrowing, with a total outstanding debt of more than VND 88.2 billion. The District Veterans Association at all levels has established mutual assistance funds with no interest or low interest rates; mobilized support for Veterans Association members to build new and repair houses... At the same time, maintaining the operation of 1 cooperative and 2 economic cooperation groups managed by Veterans, contributing to creating jobs for over 200 workers who are children of Veterans and former soldiers...

In the coming time, the Phong Dien District Veterans Association at all levels will continue to implement projects and tasks to achieve achievements in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day; promote the study and follow of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle; support veteran members and veterans in developing their family economy, consolidating and replicating effective economic models... The district Veterans Association at all levels regularly updates information and promptly deploys to cadres and veteran members new policies and regimes related to veterans.
